| I can't...Stop...Baking!!! Title says it all. I can't stop baking. Im set on French Macarons right now. I MUST get that perfect batch with the beautiful smooth tops and perfect feet. I just made a Guava Swiss buttercream for the filling on my next batch.
Luckily, Boyfriend eats the rejects happily, and I have lots of friends to share the successes with!

| Years ago, one of my favorite snacks was:
Macaron (with coconut) and a salted Cashew / 1 of each, together.
BUT, I never knew when to stop eating them...He-He. eventermal - sounds like a great talent, you have there.

French Macaron!? I envy your skill!! I've thought that it is purchased at the fancy pastry shop like Pierre Herme or Ladurre.

| I LOVE baking! It is my stress reliever. When I was in college I would bake all the time during finals weeks and all the girls in my house loved it! Now I have pretty much no one to bake for, and a kitchenette with a midget stove. I still bake when I can (just made chocolate chip cookies last week) but with the midget stove I have to adjust everything around to accommodate for that. |

| I LOVE to bake. I try to eat pretty low-carb (no flour or sugar) so I usually end up giving most of my stuff away. I don't like to eat it as much as I do trying new recipes and making other people happy. The other week the boys and I took cookies to our local police station Even my 2 year old knows how to work my kitchen aid mixer!

| It's funny how much your emotional state has to do with the urge to bake.
DH and I lived in an inner city (Chicago) married student apartment for about 6 months, a long time ago. It was gross--an old building that had been nice once, I think (marble bathroom tiles, for example), but was unkempt, had many thick coats of peeling paint just slapped on which obscured the lovely original woodwork and harbored thousands of roaches (you just didn't go into the kitchen at night--when you turned on the light, the counters crawled off). But the worst part was that there was absolutely NOTHING I could do to make the place feel homelike and welcoming.
I suddenly got the urge to bake bread, which I had never done before, and I set in, working my way through a number of recipes--I baked every bit of bread that we ate for the next six months--a couple of loaves a week, at least.
Then we moved, to a much better place. And I wasn't interested in bread baking anymore! I have probably only baked 10 to 20 loaves total in the following 30 years.
I think it was some kind of strange home-making instinct--that I was trying to make that old rundown apartment feel like a place where I could be comfortable and relaxed. Fresh bread and the aroma of baking should do that, right?

| Nothing like the smell of home made fresh bread, when your house is for sale...and having potential buyers coming through.
My wife is great at cooking & baking / just reads a recipe once and goes from stratch, making it her own.
The only downside is, when we go to a restraunt, my menu choice is more limited / as her cooking is better, then eating out.
She learned all she could from her mother, that just creates...based on taste...then add this & a little bit of that.
We have one neighbor (& close friend) for over 25 years...he is in his early 70's and his lovely wiife passed of cancer 15 years ago.
So when my wife bakes, there is always more then the 2 of us needs...so I ring his door bell and take him over treats / his face lights up like a Xmas tree, so nice to see.
He is very grateful and loves our Amy to / he has our spare house key, and will let Amy out, if we have a weeding to go to or something, once a year.
25 years ago, had another great neighbor that was retired and dieing of cancer...just the sweetest guy that loved my first dobe Tanya.
His family couldn't visit much, so my wife cooked for him every day, in his final month...when it became clear, he needed help...and no one else was stepping up. Sometimes bake &/or cooked goods, are most valued gifts of appreciation...for our senior friends and neighbors.
- only takes a few minutes, to make a big difference

| I've seen some kind of "recipe" whose details I don't remember--but it was basically a bunch of apple pie spices (cinnamon, etc.) that you boil on the stove top for a nice baking pie aroma before you show a house for sale. You don't always notice smells enough to identify them, but they sure make a difference in your impressions and feelings about a place.

| Some of those confections look just sinful.
Interesting about the psychology of baking...I am in process of finding a new place to live, and its really exciting, but also very stressful. Hmmm.
