| Good grief! Curious though, who do you feel for the most, the wife or the dogs?
I suspect all three had an unhappy life in that household before the shooting.

| "Police arrested Michael Stephen Stolz after a five-hour standoff at the man's home in the Dallas suburb of Lewisville late Tuesday. He was charged with murder in the shooting death of his wife, Bernice Stolz, and remained in the Denton County Jail on Wednesday on a $250,000 bond.
Stolz told officers he shot his 49-year-old wife and the couple's two dogs after the German Shepherd mix defecated on the floor on Saturday, said Lewisville Police Capt. Kevin Deaver. He told officers that he shot the dog, then their other dog, a Rottweiler, then his wife, who was screaming because of the shootings of the dogs, Deaver said.
Police were called to investigate after Bernice Stolz' employer reported that she failed to show up at work for several days. Stolz rebuffed officers who asked to enter the house and check on the woman's welfare, Deaver said.
Officers reported smelling an odor of decomposition from the home and called for SWAT officers to help encourage Stolz to surrender. SWAT officers finally sent a robot with a camera inside for a look, Deaver said. They noticed Stolz was unarmed and lying on the floor.
Stolz finally surrendered peacefully. Bernice Stolz's body was found on the kitchen floor with a gunshot wound to the head. Stolz told officers he had also intended to kill himself but ran out of bullets after shooting his wife and dogs, Deaver said.
"Sometimes it's just a trivial little thing that sets people off," Deaver said.
Police had previously responded to calls for medical assistance at the home but Stolz had no history of mental illness, Deaver said."

I suspect all three had an unhappy life in that household before the shooting. | Is it bad that I feel bad for the dogs? Obviously for the wife too but the dogs had no idea what was comimg. They had an accident or were being neglected which I feel might have been the case and lost their lives cause of it. It also from the article seems the guy was a little nuts.
I agree though. I don't think any of them were living a happy life |

| WOW. Why does he have a bail. Again with stories like this you wonder why humans are such idiots.
It's like the story in Los Angeles where Animal Control found the severed heads of 2 large dogs in a trash bin. I just hope and pray the monster that did this gets what he deserves. It makes me so sad that these animals rely on humans and they are betrayed on a daily basis. It just makes me cry |

Anyways, what a nutter. I feel bad for the dogs Poor babies.. its not ever a dog's fault when they have an accident- thats why its an accident! They needed to go out and weren't provided the opportunity.
That whole family just.. smh. Crazy.

| I was going to write 'what a nutter', thing is, if he is nuts he will get away with the murder of his wife and live a cushty life (for however long it turns out to be) in some hospital.
I personally think if you can go about shooting one dog, then the next and then turn the gun on your wife you are a cold calculating piece of crud and deserve to pay the ultimate price. (Does Texas still have the death penalty?).
I feel sorry for all the victims, dogs and human alike.
But the man who did this, not one jot. |

Yes, in fact, Texas is somewhat notorious for its use of the death penalty, since they execute more criminals than any other state. Not sure how quickly, though, and this guy's already 76 and obviously unstable.
I can't help but wonder how someone with no history of mental health issues and presumably no criminal recordgot to the point that a dog's accident made him flip out so badly, but I suspect we'll never know.

| Since i live in Texas
The reason we use the death penalty more than anyone else is because we have like 100x as many people as any other state because the state is so big. that is why are crime rights are higher as well simply because we have more people to commit the crime. |

| News always makes me sad. People are morons these days. My heart goes out to that poor woman's family.
The age difference isn't something that I gave much thought. My aunt always says when she's in her 90's she's going to date those "70 year old hotties." |
