| This has been an interesting conversation to stumble across, as lately I've been driving around with my volume up way high....listening to Yo Yo Ma playing Bach's Cello Suites |

| Australdi, if you can find a copy of the Clancy Brothers and Robbie O'Connell album "Older But No Wiser", there is some fantastic piping on it.
One of my favorite things to play in the car is folk music. Steel-eye Span's "Bedlam Born" album is terrific with the windows down and the volume up.

| Rosemary have you discovered the Bothy band yet? (sadly I only have them on vinyl).
I was lucky enough to do my debutante to pipes with the police highland unit.
I honestly LOOOOOOOOve the sound of bagpipes and the squeey thang it does to my innards. ....must come from the Glasweigan part of my blood.

| Okay.... I left a post last night, where the heck did it go?
Yes, I have one Bothy Band album. I also have one by a group called Patrick Street. Then of course, there are the Cheiftans. I have some older stuff on LP, but have their "Down the Old Plank Road" and "Further Down the Old Plank Road" albums on CD.
Have you ever heard of the Fury Brothers? I have them on LP.

| I like bagpipes too.
That said, a piper I know went to Vegas for a week - & took his practice pipes. He practiced in his hotel room every day & although he says they are fairly quiet, I can't believe there weren't complaints from the neighbours.

| If you're in the Dallas area in early March, and love pipe/Irish folk music, this is a fun thing to do. Lots of great music, including local/regional bands. NTIF I went every year from 1988 to 2004. Matter of fact, this is where my husband and I met in 1991.

I like pretty much everything from Bach to Bonjovi, and he likes pretty much everything from Mozart to Metallica. He likes jazz waaayyyy more than I do, but we both dislike most of the same stuff.

| For my fellow bagpipe lovers, you might enjoy one of my favorite bands, Corvus Corax. They are a German band that plays neo-Medieval music using authentic instruments. I adore them, and many of their songs are heavy on bagpipes.

[/rant] | But refuse to believe in using crates as a countermeasure to dogs being left to do what dogs love to do - (getting into things).

grr. | Hey, they think it's an acceptable form of training. I say go for it. Maybe they will learn something from it. Every time the dog does something they don't want it to do, hit them for not teaching the dog better.

| | Alpha | Forgive me for being the dreaded "newbie" but I have to get in on this.
Fellow dog park visitors - stop bringing your dog's "favorite" ball, tug, rope, frisbee, or whatever else you may throw, fling or chuck if you're going to get mad because my puppy beats your dog to it.
I'm the one that should be getting mad because I'm the one that now has to chase my puppy around and make him "drop it and leave it" like a punishment just to give it back to you. Furthermore, when this does happen, please refrain from throwing, flinging, or chucking it again until we are further enough away so as not to repeat this atrocity again. There are only so many times that my puppy is going to "drop it and leave it" before he (and/or myself) tires of it. Plus he looks a lot cuter chasing your ball, tug, rope, frisbee etc. then your dog does! http://youtu.be/XzJGCRmDS88
Okay so this is Huckleberry chasing an apple not a ball and he isn't at the dog park, but he is cute, does that count?
Local dog boutique - stop setting my puppy up for failure by placing 1) your dog biscuits in bulk at your front doors in open containers, 2) your amuse bouche size cat toys in OPEN containers on one side of the cash register island, and on the other side 3) your bulk dog treats like raw hides, cow tracheas, and small bully sticks in OPEN CONTAINERS. I especially like the small bite size rolls of nature recipe treats that I use to train him, still wrapped up in its plastic.
IF I wanted him to have it and IF I wanted to buy it I would have plucked it out of the containers myself. Trust me when I say that all the above mentioned things are far more better than anything I could entice him with on the "leave it" command!
Yes Chuck and Don he may be lacking in some of his training but how much should he be expected to abide by considering he is, A) young, B) in training, C) purposely left hungry all the time for said training and slow growing into his huge joints, D) often brought in after working out at the dog park so it's not only dinner time but, E) he has just spent the last hour at the dog park being told to "leave it" over and over every time he tried to have a good time with a ball, tug, rope, frisbee, etc. that was thrown, flung or chucked and he is kind of immune at this point.
Finally SO - although I love you to death and I know you are trying to fix me dinner, stop burning things in my cast iron skillet! Especially considering that the one I have isn't quite seasoned yet. Therefor every time I have to scrape the burn off - I scrape the season off of it also. This in and of itself wouldn't be a problem if I still had the well seasoned cast iron skillet I had for years prior to and after being with you, but you threw that one away since it started to "rust" while I was deployed for five months.
Wow that does feel better, thanks! (Now how do I change my password so my SO cant wander in here?) Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App |
