| Tutorial: How to Post a Photo In my opinion, the easiest way to post a full size photo on a forum is by using a photo hosting website, such as Photobucket.
Photobucket is a website that you upload your photos to and they are hosted on the site as a means of using the image link to post to forums and whatnot. It is completely FREE, and very easy to use.
To make it even easier (for those of you who think it's complicated or scary!), I have made this tutorial with sceenshots. BEFORE YOU START:
Your photo(s) should be resized to an appropriate viewing size before you upload it to Photobucket. Most cameras take large file size photos, and Photobucket has a size limit for uploading. The recommended size for forums and web viewing is 640 x 480 pixels.
This can be done using your computer's default photo editor. I prefer Microsoft Office Picture Manager. If you have Microsoft Office (with Word, Powerpoint, Excel, etc), then you should have Picture Manager.
After you open the photo in Picture Manager, go to Picture > Resize. This will open a tool bar on the right hand side of the screen. Select the "Predefined width x height" option and choose "Web - Large (640 x 480 px)" from the drop down box. Then hit OK, and save your photo. I recommend saving it as a copy and not overwriting your original high res photo. Using Photobucket:
Now that you have your resized photo saved, you log onto Photobucket. If you don't have a Photobucket account, click the "Join" link above the login info to create your account.
Again, it's completely FREE. All you need is a working email address - and you the rest of the info you can make up if you want
After you log in, it will take you to this page. (yours won't have pics uploaded yet like mine has, but you get the idea). Click on the "Upload images and videos" button (circled in red)
You will then have to go to whichever folder on your computer that the photo(s) are saved to. You can select more than one photo at a time to upload them all at once. For this tutorial, I just selected one photo:
Click "Open" in the window, and your photo(s) will begin uploading. When its finished, it will take you to this screen... Just click "Return to album".
You should see the new photos now, and a few links underneath them. You want to right click and copy the IMG link.
Go back to the forum where you want to post your photo. Within the text box, paste the IMG link:
After you submit your post, it will show up like this:
And that's it! :biggrin55
The free Photobucket account holds TONS of photos (30GB) worth, so you'll likely never run out of room. (unless you're like me and are a photo posting junkie...), in which case you may want to consider upgrading to the pro version, which costs money... or just create another account with a different email address (but you didn't hear that from me )
If you have any questions about posting a photo, please post in the Site Feedback forum. Thank you!

If you would like to upgrade your membership and purchase a paid subscription to the site you will gain access and be able to delete photos yourself... you will also get a larger amount of space in your gallery so you can store more photos.
edit: whoops didn't realize this post was a few months old. Hopefully it can help others if you have already resolved this. Be sure to resize your photos to smaller dimensions before you upload them so they won't take up as much space.

| As a result of the recent conversations surrounding resizing of pictures (re: July Calendar Thread), I thought I would add to the helpful information posted by Burns above, on a couple of easy steps for people to resize their photos to the requested size of 640x480.
What I would suggest is that the first thing you do is create a "NEW ALBUM". Name this album with an identifier so you know that's where you're files of that size will be. You can either name it as 640x480, or DTUPloads, etc. I called mine "FORUM UPLOADS".
Once you have created that album, make sure you are in that album. Then select the green button at the top that says "UPLOAD NOW".
This will bring up the upload options screen, as below:
Then select "Customize your upload options"... circled in Red in the picture.
This will bring up another screen that will allow you to select the sizing of your photos, as well as selecting some security options such as scrambling filenames etc.
Check off the radio button for 640x480, and then click the save button. (both are highlighted with red circles in the picture below:
Once you click SAVE, it will take you back to the Upload options screen. You are now able to select your files for upload, or enter the bulk uploader (for multiple files).
Every photo that you upload now into this folder will be stored at 640x480.
If you need to resize a photo that you already have uploaded that is too big... when viewing that picture, select EDIT PHOTO. You can pick the resize box, and set it to the proper size. Once that has been done, you have the option to replace it, or save a copy with the smaller size. Make sure you save it as one or the other or it will revert to the original.
I hope this helps out... and if you have any further questions, I know that a lot of people have offered their assistance with this.... you can also PM me.
If you aren't using Photobucket and need your images resized another way, myself and many other members have offered to do this... just reach out to someone.

| Silly question. What if you want to post more than one photo? Is there a way to copy more than one image code at a time? I'm having trouble with that. |

| Am wondering if there is another photo hosting website other than PhotoBucket? Some of my photos are just disappearing altogether and if it weren't for our SUPER SuperMod Dax, I never would have known that our April entry to the 2012 calendar disappeared.
Or maybe it's my computer.. there are some photos here on the Forum that are only little sqaures with red x's in the corner.
P.S. Thanks again Lois |

| ImageShack, TinyPic, PostImage are other ones. I'm sure there are others though.
Do you have a link of a thread with photos showing up as red x's for you? We can tell you if they come up or show up that way for us too.
