I've grinded all those old content factions too, for the mounts and whatnot, but this is different. They have linked gear to progress in raids to rep and force you to do it. It's not like a fun perk that you do as something optional in your spare time. If you want the gear, you HAVE to do the dailies. And its not even like we're talking about 30 minutes of dailies... If you do all of them, including the ones they added in 5.1, it takes upwards of 2 hours every day. That's just ridiculous.

And if you don't do the dailies for the rep, you have all this valor that you can't do anything with. There's nothing you can spend it on. Since they added the gear upgrade feature in 5.1, I've been able to spend some of my valor on that, but I still have a couple 463 pieces that I haven't replaced because they don't drop in the raids and I don't have the rep to buy the upgrades from the rep quartermasters

Even longer if you're dense like me and refuse to spec shadow on your Holy/Disc priest, lol

My peak was in BC and I raided in LK too. Dailies and rep grinding, I thought, was nothing to me. However, I"m now burnt out. I haven't touched dailies in a week and I only care slightly. It wasn't so bad until I realized that my 85 druid (2nd raiding main, soon) will have to do them all too... so I thought "screw it." No more dailies until the new year - EXCEPT FOR TILLERS because they are awesome and give me 12 motes of Harmony a day right now.

Ouch! That sounds really painful lol... My main is actually an spriest right now and I can get through them pretty quickly, but its just so damn mind-numblingly boring.

Exactly! The thought of doing this on another character just makes me want to turn the computer off. It's awful

That's part of what is going to kill this game, eventually. Requiring people to grind through the same quests to get gear so you can grind through instances and then grind through raids. That's not a game, that's a job. If all Blizzard can come up with for new content is hours of daily quests for people to do, people will get bored and leave the game. Their subscription numbers are down, I've noticed.

I did some raiding in TBC and Wrath too, and then just stopped. ICC was a very well done raid, you didn't have to grind for hours to get the gear to go because you got it through quests and crafted gear, or running earlier raids (and Ulduar was fun too). There was an actual story to play through as you went through ICC too, which wrapped up storylines going back to WCIII.

But now it's more World of Dailycraft than Warcraft. I refuse to do dailies. I'm mostly puttering around with crafting stuff and quests, so I can see the lore. But being required to spend upwards of 2 hours a day doing the same things over and over again? Nope, not going to do it. Besides, I don't have two hours every day to play video games. The gaming time I do have, I'd rather feel like I'm actually playing a game, instead of checking off a to-do list. I might cave for a mount, but day in and day out with alts for gear? Nah.

Exactly. And I don't need another job. I play this game to relax and have fun with my friends, not to feel obligated to log on and do something I hate. That is not fun, and that's not the point of a game. Especially one that I pay to play every month.

Yes! ICC was an awesome raid. I actually started my raiding career in ICC (I missed out on Ulduar which I'm bummed about), and I never got sick of that place. The whole Lich King storyline was awesome and when we finally killed him after wiping on him for almost 2 months straight, it was like we really accomplished something. That was probably the most epic feeling I've ever had in WoW. I don't think I will ever feel that way about it again.

Agree. I've decided that I am going to stop doing them, and stop stressing about not doing them. My ilvl is 483 right now and I'm ok with that. I've gotten some stuff crafted, a couple pieces off the Sha of Anger, and everything else from raiding or raid finder. Maybe one of these days I will do more dailies for the vanity stuff, but I can't stand feeling like I'm forced to do something I hate.

Burns.... you get gear from LFR??? I downed all 16 bosses yesterday. 456 gold later and I'm still stuck at 481 : ( I really like the new way they are dolling out gear in LFR (well except that I have no luck and there for no gear) but I do wish that they'd make trading possible. That way if you get gear you already have/don't need you can trade it to someone who does need it if you want to. I love that no one sees what you get though. I hated the whispers "Do you need that?" "I really need that" etc.

I'm ok with the dailies. If I don't feel like doing them one day or three days, I don't do them. My boyfriend and I play together, so doing dailies in a group is a little faster. If I had to do them alone, I'd cry. I have a pocket healer (boyfriend's main is a goblin shadow priest) so my poor hunter has some heals. We just got our second set of toons (pally and shaman) to 90 and will now begin grinding Golden Lotus again I'm hoping this grouping will make grinding a little faster.

Overall, I actually like the new expansion. I love my farm 16 motes a day is nice esp since I just made my Shaman leather gear instead of mail

The reason why they changed LFR is because people would run it and need on items they don't need - and then sell it to people. For a LOT of gold. I knew someone who actually did this - druids can do it quite easily. But you aren't alone - the new roll system SUCKS. I always get stuff I don't need.

With dailies what I did was get together with friends/guildies and get them done. I don't even bother anymore... I find it hard to motivate myself to do the new ones, but I started them anyway. Yesterday I got exalted with August Celestials, so I no longer have any factions to work on. I just did them one at a time - Tillers because I think they're fun, and then Gold Lotus til that was revered. After that, GL can be serious burnout... so I just did shado-pan (they have a neat mount at exalted) and celestials.

I can't comment on gear, though. Let's just say that the time I wasn't at work or playing with J, I got pretty geared on my monk. I refuse to play alts, though, because dailies :p

Were the Grand Commendations added with the patch?

35g at Revered status and it gives all chars on the account 100% bonus rep with that faction.

Kinda a good idea. Restored my faith a little bit/

Yeah I've actually got gear from LFR, though I've gotten a lot of doubles. I ran Endless Spring on Sunday and got a dagger and trinket in 1 run, which is super lucky. I've never got anything from the bonus rolls though, not a single thing.

You can't trade gold cross-realm so he had to have been doing it within a group on his own server.

I still wish the stuff was tradable though, because I've gotten a lot of repeats and I normally run with guildies, so it would be nice to trade it to one of them if I didn't need it. I do like not being able to see what other people get though, I hated being hounded every time I won a roll in the past.

Its funny because Blizz recognizes there's a problem with the dailies, but instead of actually fixing it, they just put out a tome to make you gain rep faster at revered... Which does me no good yet since I'm not revered with anyone yet.

I wish they would just go back to tabards like Wrath and Cata or rep from dungeons like in BC. There is literally no reason to run heroic dungeons anymore if you are past your 463 gear. I enjoy running dungeons with groups way more than grinding dailies - at least dungeon groups are dynamic and interesting, whereas the dailies are static and boring as hell.

What they need to do is increase the rep reward for doing dailies. 175 rep per quest? That doesn't add up to a significant amount and that's where frustration lies. Even Anglers gives more than that per quest and theirs are actually fun to do. Why is it they always get the fishing dailies right but not the other factions...

I've started playing again and totally agree with everyone about the daily quests. I just can't. I have not touched golden lotus or the black prince or anything. I have done tillers and that was it for me.
I have my main and don't even touch my 85 alts because it is a chore. I just sorta log on and do BG's till I get bored then log off.

Yes this. The problem when I do them is I spend upwards of 1.5 hrs on them and pretty much have nothing to show for it afterwards. It seems like my rep bars never move. It's very disheartening and makes it seem like a waste of my time.

Same with me. I had 9 85's in Cata, all at least fully LFR geared, and 2 fully heroic raid geared. I had every single profession maxed out and all the patterns. That will never happen in MoP because I can't force myself to even think about gearing up another alt, let alone multiple of them.

It's really sad, because I enjoy playing those other classes and having the freedom to heal or tank, or whatever, if I felt like it. Now I feel tied down to my one toon because of all the effort that goes into geared it up. It will kill the game for a lot of people.

So I have been working on my Draenei hunter and been running around doing quests like crazy and trying to get exalted reputation with the night elves so I can have a cat mount and not a stupid Elekk... but I really don't know about anything else. I'm sort of interested in finding other people to run around and do stuff with but I don't know how to find people. I could be in a guild but I also don't really know how that works or how to be a good little guild member. I wish I knew what I was doing!

Are you running any instances yet? That's probably the best way to meet people if you don't know someone already. If you enjoy running with them, ask if they're looking for new guildies. Some guilds require you to fill out an application, the one I was a part of does, but if you're not looking to raid hardcore most will welcome you with open arms.

I pretty much play on my own, unless I have a personal friend in game, until I hit end-game content (so now level 90 stuff). I"m a raider (kind of hardcore about it...) so I find myself a raiding guild to join and force myself to be talkative until people get to know me and talk to me first, lol

If I start getting lonely before then I'll find a leveling guild (not hard to do now as guildless toons get invited multiple times an hour) and force myself to talk for a while until people start taking the initiative to talk to me first.

Go to any major city and post in trade chat that you are looking for a leveling guild. Being in a guild is the best way to meet people. Once you're in a guild, just enjoy the guild perks (like XP bonuses!) and chat with people in guild chat if you want. If you are in a friendly guild, they don't mind answering your questions or helping you when you need it.

You'll meet people running random dungeons too, but they are usually from other servers and you'll likely never see them again.

I like solo questing, but other than that, WoW is a social game that becomes a lot more fun when you make some friends and play with them. Honestly I wouldn't still be playing this game if it wasn't for a couple people that I really enjoy raiding with. The people make all the difference for me.

I've finally quit. Been 3 weeks sober. heh... it does feel like giving up an addiction.

MoP just wasn't doing it for me. I hated that they basically made it not worth it to gear up alts - which is what I enjoyed the most.

Coupled with the fact that our server was basically dead. We couldn't get any new blood into our raid team, or pug anything for that matter. Most of the top guilds on the server transferred, which made it even more dead. The raid leader then decided that they wanted us to transfer too, and I just couldn't bring myself to do it - especially considering paying $25 per toon and 10 toons is not something I'm willing to pay for a computer game.

So anyhoo, I may re-sub at some point after we have the baby, but it probably won't be for awhile, and maybe when the next expansion comes out.

Kind of feels good, doesn't it? I haven't played for quite a while now and can honestly say I don't miss it.

Yeah I can't say I miss it either. I miss some of the people I played with, but I don't really miss the content. It's just weird not to be playing it after basically being addicted to it for 4 years!

I been done playing for about 2 years now. I played a little of MOP but I really hated what they did with talent trees. Use to playing kitty or enhancement shaman but rotation became a little to easy. I like the hard rotations and things were lining up to easy. I do not miss playing any more. I like the free time. No more raiding 8+ hours a week. FREEDOM

I still log in to talk with folks and sometimes run a dungeon, but I've gotten away from it for the most part. MoP killed it for me. I never could get used to the stupid silly goofy pandas, which are totally at odds with the general theme of Warcraft. I'd be out questing, and have some Panda kung fu squad tagging along, or seeing panda kung fu squads practicing everywhere, or have to go to a monastery and learn kung fu from the pandas.

The lore didn't grab me as much either, and they fell into that linear storyline that makes leveling alts hard. There's no option for taking alts to different zones. No, you have to help the same pandas do the same **** over and over again. And get that horrible goofiness, which is totally at odds with the Chinese philosophy Blizz kept hinting at, shoved at you again and again. The pandas, Pokemon, Farmville.... yeah, not so much. This xpack is pretty much like comparing the Phantom Menace with the original Star Wars trilogy.

I've been playing Deadpool, Skyrim, and FF7 (which finally came out on Steam). A bunch of folks from WoW and I are thinking of jumping ship to Elder Scrolls Online when that comes out. That game should have some great lore and storytelling. If they stick with the usual Elder Scrolls fare, you'll have a lot of leeway in what you can actually do in game too. It'll be worth a look.
