Has anyone heard of what is supposed to happen on this day? I saw this on the history channel and almost wish I hadn't.
The earths magnectic field is supposed to switch. I thought I heard the earths mantle will switch poles. Six Things to Know About the Earth's Mantle
The earth aligns between the sun and something else or something like that and anyway it sounds terrible.
The Mayan calendar ends on this day and different sources say it will end.
HA HA!!!, Just found it searching on the History Channel website. The show is called Doomsday 2012. Search Results

I don't usually get spooked by stuff like this, but this one kinda got to me.....

It is not just the Mayan calendar. If is was I wouldn't think anything of it.
The planets are really supposed to line up in a way that they only do every 240,000 year or so. Dang, I thought I could remember the years. I took some notes but don't have them with me. The planets will really align up this way.
Did anyone see it, besides me?

so what kind of doom are we talking? total and instantaneous doom? slow creeping gradual doom? a partial doom? a rebirth kinda doom where the human race rises out of the ashes to start again? the way I understand it, it's supposed to be lights out, time ends total kinda doom.
