| Legalize pot? Yes or no? I say absolutely, yes.
- tax revenue
- less populated prisons and more resources towards serious crime
- amazing fibers for clothing, paper, rope, etc
- fuel source
- hemp seeds are incredibly nutritious
- the health benefits - glaucoma, pain, eating disorders (lol, but seriously...) |

| Why does it say "Banned" under your username?!
And, hemp fibers are legal now, certain varieties of the plant are a perfectly legal agricultural product.
I say decriminalize it, but not legalize it.
It is sheer craziness that some recreational users of marijuana (or medicinal users) are convicted of no other crime, yet serve as much or more time, as murderers, rapists, and child molesters.

| might surprise you coming from me but I actually say yes. Its such a BIG deal here cause its illegal. If it were legal it wouldnt be such a big deal (at first yeah it would be). I think it should be treated like cig's or anything else where there is a reasonable age restriction.
Pot is PROVEN to cause MAJOR damage to child brains that are NOT yet done developing. If you ever talk to an adult that sounds like a stoner 9 times out of 10 he was one as a young teen and for all intensive purposes he'll stay sounding like that! |

| Did you watch that program on National Geographic last night? I caught it and thought it was very interesting. I don't think it should be legalized for all intents and purposes though. I definitely understand how it can be beneficial for someone going through chemo or radiation treatment etc. It definitely makes you feel good-- no one can argue with that |

It's so hypocritical to have legal alcohol consumption, but criminalize pot. That's some goofy thinkin' there and I don't use any of either. I have a hard enough time keeping up! Criminalize nicotine, too, while you're at it, so my medical insurance rates don't go up (a non-smoker) to pay for all the illnesses attributed to cigarette smoking.

However, I totally believe that it isn't the substance, it is the individual (no offense to you here- obviously you grew up ).
Alcohol is ruining (and has ruined) thousands of college careers (and ended lives as well - lol - and started a few too).
Weed, to me, is like a nice glass of wine in the evening and less is definitely more (one single hit and I am good). I educated myself extensively before I ever tried it - at age 26. Information, responsibility and moderation, all add up to a wonderful experience. I find it hugely enlightening, motivating and enriching.
But I fully recognize that so many people simply are not at a place in their lives to be responsible about it OR they have an addictive personality. This is why education is key. |

| Yes, especially for the tax revenue and overcrowding of jails reasons.
If drugs like alcohol and tobacco (both of which are addicting substances) are legal, why not marajuana? You can get alcohol poisoning and die from drinking too much, but have you ever heard of someone ODing and dying on pot? It doesn't happen - you just sleep it off. Also, any cop will tell you, they'd rather deal with a stoner than a drunk any day. People can be MEAN and VIOLENT drunks, whereas a stoned person usually is not. Alcohol has ruined (and ended) many people's lives, as someone else said. I think alcohol is much more dangerous than pot.
If we are going to expend billions of dollars on the war on drugs, it should be for the harmful drugs like cocaine and heroine. It should be legal to possess a small amount for personal use, but the same laws apply about driving while intoxicated, etc, just like alcohol. They could regulate it and tax it, just like alcohol and tobacco.

But I fully recognize that so many people simply are not at a place in their lives to be responsible about it OR they have an addictive personality. This is why education is key. | I've done it a numerous times but never felt the need to do it again. Most people here do it to look cool or they deal and just smoke it as well. I tried it first when I was 17 (LOL ) and I quit about 6 months later. I found out that I get nothing out of it, (same with drinking). People get high/drunk and act like fools but I've done both and I act just as I would non high/drunk. People just over do things sometimes lol. I mean yes, you get high and your brain messes with you a bit, but you are stronger than your brain and have the power to make it do things you want. I don't know what I'm talking about hehe
ps I quit drinking(6-7 months ago) and blazing(a year ago):p
