| Six States To Decide Tomorrow On Marijuana Measures | NORML Blog, Marijuana Law Reform
Millions of voters will decide on Election Day in favor of ballot measures to legalize and regulate the use of cannabis by adults. Voters in three states — Colorado, Oregon, and Washington — will decide on statewide ballot measures to legalize the possession and distribution of cannabis for those over 21 years of age. Voters in three additional states — Arkansas, Massachusetts, and Montana — will decide on measures to allow for the therapeutic use of cannabis by patients with qualifying ailments. In Michigan, voters in four cities – totaling over a million people – will decide on municipal measures to legalize or depenalize the adult use of cannabis We'll find out soon enough! |

Tourism would go through the roof if this passes for recreational use. |

| LOL can just imagine a mountainside with stoned skiers attempting to make it to the bottom intact.
I wonder what the legal liability of the ski lodges is when an impaired (weed/alcohol/etc.) guest gets injured at their resorts. Is it a matter of party at your own risk? |

Yup, lots of ski lodges losing money fom all those lawsuits from folks spiking their hot chocolate and coffee before hitting the lifts.
The tourism WOULD go up. You can take that to the bank. |

Not a matter of what is legal and for how long, it's whose pocket gets walloped when someone takes a spill that ends their partying ways. Quote:

Yea, take it to the bank and then pay the hospital. | I'd rather someone who has smoked running down the slopes than someone drunk. Alcohol hasnt seemed to cripple the tourist industry up there yet.

Im a (recent) edibles fan. For me its completely different. I have never experienced any 'medicinal' qualities from smoking. I do when I eat it.
Just dont eat too many(!!!). Im 5ft9 180lbs, and a half a cookie will make me nicely content. I ate a whole sucker a few weeks ago and slept for two days. You have to figure out your dosing...
and of course....if your going to go nuts and 'find god' and get shitfacehammercocked....make sure someone takes care of your dog in the meantime... |

| Just read an interesting article... Approx. 7600 people die every single year from regular, over the counter aspirin. What's ironic, is aspirin is considered to be safe, can be bought in just about every supermarket, drugstore, convenience store, gas station, etc. This is almost 1 person per hour, every day, of every year dying as a direct result of taking aspirin. And again, aspirin is generally regarded as safe. Marijuana causes ZERO deaths, EVER, as a direct result of usage, and is considered unsafe.
Some food for thought...
A different article, taken over an 8.5 year study of 30,000 "criminals" arrested for first time marijuana possession in New York City. The resulting study showed that 90% of these people were never convicted of another crime of any type. So, gateway drug? Leads to other criminal acts?
The time will come when people will stop relying on OPINIONS, ignorant, outdated studies, propaganda, and flat out lies that people are led to believe.
Another interesting tid-bit of info. In states where marijuana has become legal in either medical situations, or decriminalized entirely, studies have shown a DECREASE of 9% in motor vehicle crashes.

| Were the aspirin deaths due to overdose or some underlying problem that the aspirin added to?
Kevin, for every study showing how you feel about marijuana there are other studies showing a different result.
A decrease in motor vehicle crashes.....sure those results were purely because people smoked more pot? Or were there other factors impacting your study? |

Or were there other factors impacting your study? | I've given plenty of factual evidence over many pages here. I'm still not sure the points your arguing, because they are not factual. It doesn't matter what the underlying cause of the aspirin deaths are, they are there, every single day. These are deaths DIRECTLY contributed to the aspirin, whether it's an overdose, or something else doesn't change the fact that people are being killed by aspirin. On the flip side, there are ZERO directly attributed to marijuana, EVER, in recorded history. There are ZERO deaths from cancer or other disease attributed directly to marijuana, there are ZERO motor vehicle accidents directly attributed to marijuana use, the "kills braincells" has been dis-proven, and the study I showed above shows that people that smoke weed are significantly less likely to commit other crimes, with most NEVER getting in trouble again, for anything.
So if it's this big, bad, dangerous nasty addicting drug, how is it that not one person, ever, in recorded history, anywhere in the world has ever had their listed cause of death as Marijuana? Does that really make sense in someone's head? It CAN cause cancer, but not one single person, ever, in recorded history has died from cancer related to it.
So, I ask again: What is the real danger of smoking pot, backed up with facts? Can you disprove any of these facts? Can you link me to any of these studies? Can you find anyone, anywere that died as a direct result of smoking pot? Cancer, overdose, disease, illness, etc? |

Again, for every study that is pro marijuana you can find one that is on the opposite side of it. Keep smoking it. But for heaven's sake........stay away from that aspirin!! |

I'm asking you to find someone who has had cancer, illness, disease, etc. as a direct result of using marijuana. Do any of these studies show anything like that? Or do the studies say that these things CAN happen? CAN is one thing, but DO they happen, backed up with facts?
About the motor vehicle thing, I can't say, because that's the only results I could find. Some google searching didn't yeild any results of marijuana related motor vehicle deaths. Any guess as to why? The only thing I can find is that it is dangerous to smoke weed, drink alcohol as well, and THEN drive. In just about every study ever done by anyone about the effects of marijuana use while driving, they have all been the same. People drive LESS aggressively, slower, pay more attention, and focus more. In other words, there was no noticeable difference, in any study, when talking about people that actually smoke. Now, take someone that doesn't smoke, get them high, may be a bit different.
I am in no way condoning any kind of intoxicated driving, there's just not much fact about this because it is not the problem that people make it out to be. If it was, there would be this info, like there is for alcohol and other drugs.

Kevin, like I said before, go and smoke weed until you puke. I don't care. Just when you do, do the rest of society a favor and stay off the roads. |
