| The complete transcript of the presidents speech. Boy, he sure goes after those guns!
"This afternoon, I spoke with Governor Malloy and FBI Director Mueller. I offered Governor Malloy my condolences on behalf of the nation and made it clear he will have every single resource that he needs to investigate this heinous crime, care for the victims, counsel their families.
We’ve endured too many of these tragedies in the past few years. And each time I learn the news, I react not as a president, but as anybody else would as a parent. And that was especially true today. I know there’s not a parent in America who doesn’t feel the same overwhelming grief that I do.
The majority of those who died today were children -- beautiful, little kids between the ages of 5 and 10 years old. They had their entire lives ahead of them -- birthdays, graduations, weddings, kids of their own. Among the fallen were also teachers, men and women who devoted their lives to helping our children fulfill their dreams.
So our hearts are broken today for the parents and grandparents, sisters and brothers of these little children, and for the families of the adults who were lost.
Our hearts are broken for the parents of the survivors, as well, for as blessed as they are to have their children home tonight, they know that their children’s innocence has been torn away from them too early and there are no words that will ease their pain.
As a country, we have been through this too many times. Whether it is an elementary school in Newtown, or a shopping mall in Oregon, or a temple in Wisconsin, or a movie theater in Aurora, or a street corner in Chicago, these neighborhoods are our neighborhoods and these children are our children. And we’re going to have to come together and take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of the politics.
This evening, Michelle and I will do what I know every parent in America will do, which is hug our children a little tighter, and we’ll tell them that we love them, and we’ll remind each other how deeply we love one another. But there are families in Connecticut who cannot do that tonight, and they need all of us right now. In the hard days to come, that community needs us to be at our best as Americans, and I will do everything in my power as president to help, because while nothing can fill the space of a lost child or loved one, all of us can extend a hand to those in need, to remind them that we are there for them, that we are praying for them, that the love they felt for those they lost endures not just in their memories, but also in ours.
May God bless the memory of the victims and, in the words of Scripture, heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds.
END

My sneaky agenda is trying to change the subject... | I hope that stupid thing (DOMA) is gotten rid of. Seriously. It's stupid. You want to "defend" marriage, get rid of no-fault divorce, and go back to the days of having to prove either abuse, abandonment, adultry, or the like. That'll bring down the divorce rate.

I hope they hear the merits and not "punt" on the standing issue.
Ms. Windsor does not owe the govt 300 grand in estate taxes for stuff she already owned
If they want to define biblical marriage as whatever, back to chattel and polygamy, go forth and conquer... I think they should. it'd be funny. But the "lay" part of the social contract is coming,
so BUHAHAHA

I went to the Portland gunshow today. Wasn't intending to buy anything, but found out that Oregon has delayed approving any background checks for firearms purchases until further notice. Due to the recent shootings. Folks at the gunshow wanting to buy a gun were told they could start the transaction, pay, but they would have to wait until Monday and go to the gun shop and finish the paperwork and background check and pick up their gun. At a gunshow like Portland, there are a lot of vendors from around the state - not a simple drive to the dealer's shop on Monday. Basically, it has shut the gunshow down. So there you have it - gun control in action.

| Not enough to say a person is racist if they disagree with group speak--now we can call them sick too.
It is early to be talking about the political repercussions of this dreadful event perhaps--but this is the political thread, after all. It is hiding one's head in the sand to say that an event like this will not be used by folks of all political persuasions to support their own personal credo.

That is a bit morbid, and this whole thing is emotionally charged at the moment. I'm a gun owner, and pro gun rights, and I found that to be over the top. The idea that people who are "anti gun" would rejoice (dancing) over the blood shed by dead children is a bit much. |

| take a trip in way back machine.. . remember the liberals.. the internet posters of kill Bush, or images of Bush hanging or whatever.. and that was hunky dorey by the liberal media.. it was ok.
and regarding the sentiment by a few here that Obama will use any event to advance agenda of gun control... I don't believe that - I think gun control is already alive and well. the noose has been tightening slowly for years. Maybe now - yes - the pace will quicken.
I'm going to see the movie, remake of Red Dawn.. yee haw...

It should not have EVER been okay. Joking about the death of anyone just because you happen to disagree with them is not okay. Just like it should not be okay to say the same things about Obama, or call him by anything other than his given name (Obummer or 'bamma or whatever ranks right up next to the Bush and Dick comments in terms of being disrespectful to the office of the President and the person who holds the title).
When did it become necessary to insult someone in order to disagree with them? Or accuse them of dancing in the blood of innocent children? That, by the way, is sick and disgusting and totally inappropriate. I am a pro-2nd amendment supporter, by the way. You will win exactly no support by making those analogies, and it is still far too early to even start talking about anything except healing.
It's a lack of respect. Liberals, conservatives, and moderates are all guilty of it. Both liberal and conservative media sources are guilty of it, because it sells papers and they would rather be sensationalistic and pander to the lowest common denominator- on both sides!- than present unbiased, factual news. Or you know, be respectful to the current President. Or be respectful to each other, even if our opinions are different. Heavens forbid we do that.
We have a total lack of respect in this country for our fellow citizens in general, and I think it sucks.
Hopping off my soapbox now. |

I don't think anybody is rejoicing about little killed being killed....Also at the end of the day those children were shot with a gun! Not stabbed. I am not totally anti gun...I do not own any guns but I was brought up around them. Everybody in my family has many guns....I have chosen so far to not have a gun. This does not mean I will never have one....I would like the right to have one if I so want. But I do think we need different guns laws! I think you should have as much or even a little more training/licensing as you need to drive a car. I know that would have not stopped this shooting but it may stop another.
I also think we need to address mental health in this country. |

It's about abandonment of the things that hold communities and societies together.

| All of the usual anti-gun, anti-liberty lefties such as Michael Moore, NYC Mayor Bloomberg (who a few years ago violated Virginia law by sending down some flunkies to make straw-man gun purchases), and far left democrats are gathering to attack our rights, just as I earlier stated.
What happened to the little children, and the adults was terrible, and pure evil. Is not what the left is now doing also evil, just in a different way? They want to destory the Constitution, and our liberty. |

There is an opportunity to debate gun rights and discuss mental health issues, but honestly this is a bit soon. Not sying its not a discussion worth having, only saying that at THIS moment, piggy backing on THIS tragedy (both sides) all it's going to do is inflame passions on both sides and lead to hot headed name calling and passionate people acting like jackasses.
Bring it back in a week, and let's do this thing |

I could link dozens more, but if you still aren't convinced another 100 links won't make a difference.
Call it what you want- but when people jump at the opportunity to further a political agenda before the bodies are even in the ground, it's morally reprehensible. I think 'Dancing in the blood of victims' is an appropriate description.
If that description offends you, perhaps a good outlet for your outrage would be to contact every politician, every organization, every celebrity and every individual who is trying to further their agenda on the back of this tragic event and tell them to STFU.

anyone who uses Obama's kids to make a point should STFU
anyone who uses Comrade Clinton to make a point should STFU
anyone who uses hate speech should go to re-education camp
