Continuous Ink System: anyone use one?

My long-serving Epson 300 series printer finally quit printing pics the way they look on the camera, the computer, and the TV. Now it's in the garbage.

I am replacing it with an Epson R280.

At the same time I'm thinking of adding a continuous ink system, because one thing Epsons seem to do is empty at least one ink cartridge every time it's fired up.

Has anyone tried an aftermarket continuous ink system like this one?

Epson R280 Continuous Ink System (Plus Ink) by UNI-KIT

Am I better off just running to the office supply every time I want to print a picture for another fifteen-dollar cartridge, or can this ink-feed thing work?

I don't know anything about Epson but I have an HP that does only photos that I love. Each color (there are 5 plus black) has its own cartridge so you don't waste money buying colors that are still half full and it has a pump that somehow gets out all the air from the well so your colors never dry up. I got it for that reason and because it does 8 x 10's. After having it I don't think I'll ever go with anything else.

My HP (a cheap promotional job which came "free" with my 5-year-old desktop) is also in the trash right now, right next to the Epson! It will not print at all, and an hour on the horn with tech support couldn't get it going. WTH, easy come, easy go.

At least the Epson would print something, even though the image looked like the TV after a kid messed with the color and tint wheels.

I'm going to give it a shot. A full set of ink cartridges (there were six) for the now-trashed R300 set me back $78, and these are almost empty when new. Like a fool, I tried new ink and new paper before tossing the unit in the garbage, instead of replacing the printer itself right off the bat.

Continuous Ink would be a great name for a black & rust show dog.

(See how scary my mind is?)
