Its no different from a federal perspective than at the state level. Florida gave many companies tax breaks to encourage its local economy. Those that are taxed to death and unionized to death end up self imploding. Look at Michigan.
I wonder how indeed its going to work for Obama when he is president and he "closes corporate tax loopholes" and "punishes companies for going overseas" all at the same time. It is NOT going to be a good thing for the American worker.
What people dont realize is at the federal level- tax cuts for companies and small businesses are about the only way the federal government can actually influence employment levels. | public corporations are all about making money - profit - for the benefit of the shareholders. Under capitalism and under any regulatory framework, the only reason for a public corporation to exist is profit. Not good works. Not social awareness. Not guaranteed employement to the communities where it has facilities. Mission #1 for a public corporation = make money aka shareholder value. So you take gross revenues from sales/services, back out cost of sales, cost to operate the business and taxes and you end up with profit, or not. A corporation can exist on break even (covers its costs and taxes only) but it won't grow the business. Profits are necessary to grow the business which adds jobs. So people might say "Company XYZ is making millions and millions in profits - they deserve to pay higher taxes". Going back to the reason for public corporations to exist, do we really want to tax them to death, literally? Anyway, I am agreeing with clipclop in my verbose rambling way |

Which makes sense if you think about it. I's told that America runs the second highest tax rates on big companies in the world, and that it's the main reason why large scale companies are pulling out and going oversees to places like China.
So in all honesty, isn't it safe to say that McCain's for giving big companies tax breaks because he feels that it will trickle down and prevent the blue collar guy from losing his job to another company pulling out due to increased taxes. I know a couple guys in Cleveland that say they fear they'll lose their jobs if Obama becomes president and increases the taxes on big companies.
So then, are we really better off if we steal from the rich and give to the poor? Or are Obamas increased taxes on wealthy corporate America only going to force more jobs oversees. Hmmm.... | There is a currency exchange reason for US MNCs to go overseas as well. It's cheaper for them to operate in the local markets in the local currency. The US MNC still has to roll up income from all sources and report it and is still taxed. |

| Yep, and O supporters are vandalizing McCain ofices as well GOP Says Vandalism at Offices Prompts Beefed-Up Security - WSJ.com
How about this one. If it had been Republicans doing this, it would have been ALL over the news. I've LIVED in this community. Michelle Malkin » More Democratic rage not on the front page Quote:
The sign went up Sunday evening, bold black letters against the stark white background of the marquee at the Colony South Hotel & Conference Center in Clinton: “Country First. McCain/Palin.”
By daybreak, pandemonium had broken loose all across heavily Democratic Prince George’s County. Many local supporters of Democrat Barack Obama, jolted by the message as they headed down Branch Avenue on their Monday morning commutes, grabbed cellphones and BlackBerrys to notify friends. Operators of neighborhood e-mail group lists cried foul to their memberships. The NAACP logged calls. Community leaders demanded boycotts of the hotel, a common venue for Democratic events.
“Businesspeople have to be mindful of the sentiments and sensibilities of their market trading area, and Prince George’s County is overwhelmingly for Obama,” said community activist Arthur Turner of Kettering, who was among those advocating a boycott. “People I have talked to look at the sign as a slap in the face. They feel it was blatant disrespect. . . . I have heard people say they will no longer patronize Colony South because of that disrespect.”
The outcry over the hotel marquee tapped into the passion — and sometimes anger — that has characterized this fall’s presidential campaign. Supporters of Republican candidate John McCain have vented their rage at rallies this week, applauding thunderously as McCain’s running mate, Sarah Palin, accused Obama of “palling around with terrorists.”
Prince George’s, though, is clearly Obama Country. As the nation’s wealthiest mostly black community, where about 77 percent of registered voters are Democrats, residents have Obama placards in their yards, bumper stickers on their cars and the candidate’s visage on their T-shirts.
The marquee supporting the GOP ticket in “an area that is strongly African American was like putting a stink bomb in the middle of the living room,” said University of Maryland political Professor Ron Walters. “What it does show is the emotions that are around this campaign and this election.”
Colony South General Manager Alan Vahabzadeh said that the hotel, one of several Washington area businesses that has dared to venture into the political thicket, got the message after about 100 phone calls and three dozen e-mails. The sign came down Wednesday afternoon.
“I didn’t even realize it was going to be like this,” he said in an interview. The last thing “we want to do is lose business,” he added

| Personally, the big thing on campus was hype about Ron Paul..and then it became Obama. I just got into an argument with someone who claims the "blacks will take over as soon as Obama makes it to office...and then whites will become the minority, leaving whites with no jobs."
What??? Good lord.
I tried to show him this...but apparently he had read by 2046 the population of blacks will be 75%??? What?? No???
THIS is what I found.. 40.2 million
As of July 1, 2006, the estimated population of black residents in the United States, including those of more than one race. They made up 13.4% of the total U.S. population. This figure represents an increase of half a million residents from one year earlier.
61.4 million
The projected single-race black population of the United States for July 1, 2050. On that date, according to the projection, blacks would constitute 14.6% of the nation’s total population.

| OBAMA ISSUES TALKING POINTS FOR THE DEBATE!!!!
So now he thinks HE can run the debate as HE sees fit!!!!! DRUDGE REPORT FLASH 2008® Quote:
OBAMA CAMPAIGN ISSUES TALKING POINTS TO MEDIA AHEAD OF DEBATE
Wed Oct 15 2008 11:13:03 ET
The Obama campaign issued a set of debate 'talking points' to media on Wednesday morning, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.
Press Secretary Sean Smith issued the directive in an email from Pennsylvania, 12 hours before the debate.
The memo oddly mirrors much of the main press analysis and theme of the current campaign:

* This is John McCain's last chance to turn this race around and somehow convince the American people that his erratic response to this economic crisis doesn't disqualify him from being President.
* Just this weekend the weekend, John McCain vowed to "whip Obama's you-know-what" at the debate, and he's indicated that he'll be bringing up Bill Ayers to try to distract voters.
* So we know that Senator McCain will come ready to attack Barack Obama and bring his dishonorable campaign tactics to the debate stage.
Obama continues to lead on the economic crisis with a rescue plan for Main Street.
* Over the course of the campaign, Barack Obama has laid out a set of policies that will grow our middle class and strengthen our economy.
* But he knows we face an immediate economic emergency that requires urgent action - on top of the plans he's already laid out - to help workers and families and communities struggling right now.
* That's why Barack Obama is introducing a comprehensive four-part Rescue Plan for the Middle Class - to immediately to stabilize our financial system, provide relief to families and communities, and help struggling homeowners.
* This is a plan that can and should be implemented immediately.
* Obama has shown steady leadership during this crisis and offered concrete solutions to move the country forward - and his Rescue Plan for the Middle Class builds on the plans to strengthen the economy and rebuild the middle class that he's laid out over the course of this campaign.
* Already in this campaign, he's unveiled plans to give 95 percent of workers and their families a tax cut, eliminate income taxes for seniors making under $50,000, bring down the cost of health care for families and businesses; and create millions of new jobs by investing in the renewable energy sources.
* John McCain has been erratic and unsteady since this crisis began - staggering from position to position and trying to change the subject away from the economy by launching false character attacks.
END

| Non of this hatred is top down driven, that's the point I'm trying to make. It's UGLY on both sides, I'm just tired of the media playing it off that it's ONLY the McCain supporters that are spewing hatred.

Threat sent to Obama office
The South Philadelphia headquarters of Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama were evacuated for about an hour yesterday after an envelope bearing threats and a suspicious powder was delivered to the building, at 15th and Christian Streets.
The incident was first reported at 4:45 p.m., and investigators from several agencies, including the Secret Service, FBI and the Fire Department, responded, Executive Fire Chief Daniel Williams said. Appearing on the envelope, which had a San Diego postmark, were the words No Obama. The letter contained threatening language, including the phrase death to Obama, Williams said.
The department's hazardous-materials team examined the the powder and ruled out anthrax or any radioactive substance.
Just before 5:45 p.m., the 20 people who had voluntarily evacuated returned to the building. Although some had touched the material, none asked to go to the hospital, Williams said.
In the end, the white powder was harmless. "It turned out to be sugar," Williams said. But he added that the precautions were warranted. "Until you can identify it," he said, "it's dangerous." - Anthony R.
