| Folding crate recommendations...please Can anyone recommend a folding crate that can be set up easily? I have one now that is light enough to carry, however it's not very quick and easy to set up and Roulette can move it around. I think I need a wire one that folds. It will be transported to obedience school and shows and needs to hold my male that's 28" at the shoulder. Since I take both of them to back to back classes one has to wait in the crate, I used the one I have last week, good thing I brought a friend otherwise Roulette would have joined Vegas' class crate and all.......LOL
Any suggestions, anyone have experience with wire folding crates. Thanks. |

| I have a 2 door from precision crates I really like, b/c it's not hard to set up and take down, a bit heavy, but they can't move it around, and one of the doors is on the side, so you have the option of putting it length wise along a wall, out of the way.

| | Alpha | I have an older Midwest single door crate. Most of the newer crates have plastic trays making them lighter than the older ones w/ a metal tray. It folds up like a suitcase and has a handles. It has been used a lot over the years, well worth the money. |

| Just an FYI.......Walmart has "petmate" wire folding crates (I have 4 of them) they are awesome. I have 2 from petsmart, midwest brand...and the 4 from Wal-mart, petmate brand.
I prefer the ones from Wal-Mart, IMO they are better made, and harder for the dogs to get out of. Ziris learned how to get out of the Midwest ones, by pushing up with her head on the crate, then pulling the side in, and she could escape. The petmate ones, have an extra little hook thing, so that they cant do that.
Also, the ones at WalMart are WAY cheaper. You can buy the large size for like $50-60, and the XL size for like $75.
The ones I bought at PetSmart were like $120.

| I use the wire crates from walmart. They have added an additional safety feature to stop them from collapsing that makes them a tiny bit more of a pain to take down. However, I'll take that for the safety feature, especially with a young animal.
I also just invested in a pair of soft crates for the suv. I'm very happy with them and they pop up and down at lightning speed. They are less irritating then the wire crates for vehicle set up I find. I'm not allowed to leave a perm set up in the SUV |

| I just bought one at the last dog show I was at, made by 'guardian gear'. Wire frame work, it folds up and has its own carrying case with pockets on the sides for leashes etc. When set up it has fold down 'window' coverings, it is made out of canvas and is very strong and durable. When packed up with its carrying case it is very light weight easy to store. I have a large one and my Adult Male Dobie fits in it just fine. |

| I have an older Midwest crate too, it's probably 15 years old. I also got an XL crate on www.craigslist awhile back for $50. It's a good site to get yardsale "deals" on. Just be sure to check it out first, some people sell trash. |
