stopping power is non existent unless you can land your shots
| Which is one reason why shotguns are considered by *most* to be the best home defense weapon.
Although my nightstander is also a 9mm

I believe in a 9mm more than any other options due to stopping power/vs control under stress. but to start out, a cheap .22 for 200$ to train you that you can resell for 200$ is a great investment to get solid on your shooting skills.
some good red dots in the mag of a 9mm and your a happy camper.
zombies or intruders, I got a few shots to pop off. (jk, range ammo)

That's what we have, a 9mm. My husband's department switched from 9's to Glocks, so he kept his old gun. |

| I believe a lot of them did. The law enforcement at the range I shoot at says it's because 9mm's don't do enough damage as they tend to pass through more cleanly. They switched to .40 instead because they cause a lot more damage. Apparently some people that are high enough weren't hardly even flinching with a 9mm round and they needed more stopping power.

He had a prostitue jump out of a 3rd story window (thru the glass), land on the ground and still fight with him. He works in a high school now and says he has confiscated better crack there than they have on the streets. It's sad. |

| bagsjr - If they had a little smilie of Homer Simpson drooling over a donut I'd put it here...Mmmmmmm...guns. You have a very nice collection and some great rare items! It's great to see them, and see them being cared for so well. |

Do you really think someone who is so desperate to break into your home, armed, gives 2 @#$t's about human life....probably not. Maybe that is why I would choose not to inform anyone I had a gun. Maybe I could avoid having to shoot someone by putting the barrel up to his head when he/she didn't know it was coming, then call the police. |
Ok did I say that I was going to yell out "hey I have a gun come and get it??" No you simply have to take a shot gun and even something just as simple as jacking the slide up and down and someone would have to be completely stupid to not know what that sound means. Especially someone who is breaking into my house. And if you look back I am the one that said that someone breaking into your house does not give two sh*ts about your life cause they are there to do you harm! I also dont know if thinking that you can just sneak up to someone that is dumb enough to be breaking into your house and holding them there with a barrel of the gun against their head while you are trying to call the police at the same time is going to work either. That is a lot of stuff to be doing while trying to contain someone that is most likely going to kill you. But to each his own I guess. I agree with the fact is why would you even want to be that close to them that they could do something to you even if you were the one holding the gun? |

Nice P30 , i like everything heckler & koch make ... even the shotguns. I cant get used to the trigger creep and reset tho , thats why i stick to 1911's. If you learn with trigger creep and let off reset ... its ok ... but it is hard to switch over to it. Nice gun tho and i bet it took you a while to set the ammo up like that for the picture.

| Ok, I'm almost to the point where I can afford to go buy something. I'm going to try and talk my honey into agreeing for me to put it on my credit card. No, I don't need permission, but do like to include him in deceisions that I make about stuff like this. We have seperate accounts and divide the bills, seceret to a Happy Marriage I think. I checked the gun shop web site again. I think this looks pretty good, what do you guys think: GLOCK G22 40s&w Night Sights w/ 3 Hi Cap Mags for Sale at Buds Gun Shop $399.00
Or This: S&W 4006 40S&W Melonite Colorado State Police for Sale at Buds Gun Shop $399.00
I still am leaning toward a shot gun but I have to actually shoot before I make a concrete choice. |

| Hey if the Glock 22 is good enough for FBI academy graduates......... I didn't read other posts but do you plan on just keeping this at home for self-defense? I wouldn't personally use a shot gun as a self-defense weapon but that's just me..
