I'm telling you gal, you need to get a gun as much as your husband is away".
My husband is a musicain so he gets home late some nights. Anyway we have talked about it but have not decided yet. And if we do, we have no idea what to get and know nothing about guns at all (well my husband says he knows some).
So I'm here asking for advice from all you gun toting experienced people. | As I have several handguns, rifles, and shotguns, nothing says home protection better than a 12 gauge semi automatic shot gun. You can also use non lethal loads such as rock salt. Think if you had to deal with an intruder who was threatening your life: you would be in a panic, and probably not hit 1 out of 5 shots with a pistol. Now, with Mr. 12 gauge, I highly doubt you would miss at close range. But, with liberal laws that protect intruders, I would shoot for the legs.

| Not me. If I ever have to shoot a person, it will be to kill and only to kill. That is also what has been taught to me all along in any gun class. Shoot to wound and you could wind up in jail yourself, or sued for enough to break you. Believe me, if I yell at somebody "I have a gun, so get the X%#* out or I will kill you and they still advance on me while they are staring down the barrel of my gun, they aren't coming to give me tactical advice and I WON'T be aiming for their legs, and I sure as hell wouldn't be shooting salt.

As you can see his shoulder against a solid fixed object recoil would KILL a normal shooter with a standard stock. If pistol grip is your thing . i recommend you check out the Breachergrip also made by Knoxx and is also recoil reducing.
I own every caliber mentioned in this whole thread (yes i have alot of guns) and this is what i go to for home defense.
Remington 12ga , i lean a little more toward tactical type weapons so this shotgun has a few extras. It has a Knoxx spec ops , wilson combat tritium night sight ghost ring , wilson combat forearm , wilson combat anti bind magazine follower and wilson combat extended magazine .... YOU CANT GO WRONG WITH A SHOTGUN!
In a post earlier you asked if there were quieter guns out there , the answer is no. You can get a silencer which is legal , but thats a $200 tax stamp and around $600 - $1200 for the can itself (can = silenencer) and they dont make them for a shotgun , just rifles and pistols. If you decide you want a silencer , i recommend Gemtech ... they make nice cans. And yes i know a good bit about silencers to LOL | hey hey - you're my guy to talk to about other neat things that are legal in Oregon

| Wow, I am impressed, most of you are not just gun toting people you are gun enthusiasts. Knowledgable of your guns and are involved in the sport of guns. You are passionate about them. Whole nuther story. Anyone intersested in one will learn a lot from this thread. AS I have said before I do not carry one with me at all times, but I do know how to use one if need be.
Anyone know anything about the old 'over-under', used to be referred to as a lady's gun for home and property protection. |
