| | Alpha | did some research...turns out my 88 is interchangeable w/ a 500...they just put the safety on the trigger instd on top...cheaper...parts made in mexico?
-im not a revolvr fan...but its worth trying (he may b an old school cop...thats wht they used "bak n the day")
-as for a shotgun gettn takn away...is possible....thats one reason i like mine stripped down...short barrel...pistol grip...more manuverable...less gun 4 them to get ahold of...easy hip shot...but it would b easier to grab then a pistol (you could still get a 1 handed belly shot off with a pistol)...n real close quarters.
-also a plan doesn't hurt...lawyer at conceal carry said 'nothing he cant replace...get his gun...duck behind bed...why go look for them?....call 911...(talk if u can...remain silent and let them trace the call if u can't)...U'd be behind something..w/your weapon...in the quite...bak 2 a wall...let them take your stuff...if they get to you...do what u must.
-see edit note

| | Lil Dog | If you are dead set on a revolver then i recommend Smith and Wesson 642 38SP, 2 Inch, Airweight, Laser Grips, Stainless Steel
Its light , enclosed hammer and comes factory with crimson trace laser grips. Its nick name is the "lady smith" it is simple , grab the gun put the red dot on target and squeeze trigger.
I realise this post went political with the anti gun right wing liberals posting on here. But a gun will give you the feel of so much more security when you are alone. When i met JulieW she had never owned a gun , shot a gun and was down right afraid of guns. I am a southern boy who grew up in the military and had guns in my hands since i was 10.... this wasnt gonna work LOL. I took Julie and educated her on weapons , EVERY kind of weapon Full autos , semi autos , revolvers , single actions , double actions , pumps , over and unders ect. Realise that JulieW is 5' 3" and has the upper body strength of a cricket , i wouldnt have a problem with her tangleing with a 6' 4" 275lb man now. Im sure she can elaborate on how she feels when she is alone now. A weapon levels the playing field for women ... And trust me there is nothing 911 a house alarm or a insurance company is gonna do for you out in the country when trouble arises. |

| Actually I'm leaning more toward a shotgun still, unless something blows me away when I go to the shop. I will check the one you posted out. :-) Thanks |

| Thanks for the remind about the pistol grip. I finally got ahold of the guy that talked about calling last night. He said a lot of the same stuff you guys did. He also said if I can, I should go get guns at a flea market so if they are outlawed, there will be no paper work to follow for someone to knock on my door and take them. Hmmmmm, never thought of that. He said if it turns out they are not functioning well, then all shops have gunsmiths that can fix them. Good thought but I don't have enough experience to buy at a flea market, etc..... Anyway, I think I want a shotgun (really I want everything but I can't buy it all at once), but will remember to nix the pistol grip.
BTW, I did not understand what a pistol grip was till LeroytheDobe posted his comment, Thanks, now I get it.

| I have to research everything I finally see that a pistol grip is the part where you pull the trigger, not the part where you pump the gun, correct? Damn, that knocks out the ones that I had bookmarked. Back to the drawing board.

| | Alpha | u could still try a pistol grip- just b ready for it and see what u think...i love mine...a smaller caliber will help with such a hard kick and still work fine for home protection.
-u'll just have to experimnt
-in my opionion...i'd not listen to your friend...keep everything legal...the stores can't sell you illegal weapons...and a new gun will be registered to you and never be a problem. guns usually become illegal when they are used (like a flee market) and people modify them.
--unless of course u plan on going out and killing someone and don't want the cops to find u...then go by at a flea market...ha! |
