| Here is a link to their customer feedback form. I just filled it out and voiced my complaints to them and it would be great if EVERYONE did and flooded them with comments. https://koa.com/webtransactions/feedback/

| I already got a response from KOA to my email to them: Quote:
Thank you for your email regarding animal restrictions at KOA campgrounds and would like to thank you for taking the time to share your concerns with us.
Please be assured that not all KOA campgrounds will be adopting the same pet policies. Since each KOA is independently owned and operated, the owners have the liberty to set policies regarding rates, pets, etc. specific to their location. The best thing to do would be to call ahead to the campground and ask them if they have any policies regarding pets. KOA is normally very pet friendly and I hope we are able to continue to accommodate you and your family.
Once again, thank you for sharing your concerns with us. Please feel free to contact us if you need further assistance. Happy camping in the future.
Sincerely,
THE VALUE KARD REWARDS TEAM

| | Big Dog | I just sent my response to this...
I understand that every KOA is not the same and since you do NOT have a standard pet policy that does NOT discriminate against well behaved but unfortunate to be of "that breed" I will not be using these campgrounds. I am saddened to have an option for me and my family taken away, but I will NOT give money to those who would allow discrimination against anyone or, in this case, any breed.
Don't think it will do much, but hey got it off my chest.

Forget it... ban them all. Misinformation rules.
I'm done here. I guess I just not smart enough about the genetic code to play here. |

| | Alpha | Since it is a buisness open to the public they can not disallow any service dog because of it breed. To do so would invite both state and federal law violations.
If I were planning to challange them at this I would go prepared with a helper video taping the entire encounter. It avoids a lot of he said she said quotes as well as mis-quotes. Many digital cameras now do video with sound, a palm video recorder would be ideal. I have never had them challange my service dog and I've always worked GSDs and dobes. Quote:

Ah. This would be interesting. My Service Dog *is* a Doberman.
Too bad I'm not going camping any this year--that would be a fun conversation with staff.
And hey, if you have contact info you'd like to share, I'll be glad to shoot off a well-written, politely-phrased email to higher-ups, on this issue. |

| I received an email from the actual specific campground that it happened at: Quote:
Afternoon Julie - of course we felt unhappy about having to talk with the understanding owner of the doberman at our KOA. We do the same with rottweiller and pit bulls as well for the same reasons. We are dog lovers here both the owners and staff - but the public perception of these breeds unfortunately is what we are dealing with - never the individual dogs or owners.
In my conversation with our camper I never mentioned, nor would I, the insurance issue since that is not what this is about. As a matter of fact the gentlemen in question was very understanding about our position, thanked me for the conversation and we shook hands.
Thank you for taking the time to write and for reading my response. Do not judge all KOAS by the experience you heard about - we are all individually owned - but I would recommend you always mention with your reservation that you are bringing an animal with you and name the breed.

| I replied that by their actions they are supporting breed specific legislation which means I will no longer support them and I will continue to spread the word to that effect.

| Good for you Julie the only way to make these people realise what they are doing is to hit them where it hurts!! in the pocket.(amazing how they tend to change their policies when enough people do it.(still angry for Chaz and we don't have KOA in this country)

| | Alpha | I agree, everyone writing KOA would be great We just usually handle it verbally, but written can be more effective as it goes up higher on the chain.

Would anyone like to plan a Dobe gathering in Cloverdale????????
Oh boy, this really has my blood boiling! I need a drink! |

| Thank you for your support, everyone! I KNEW I could count on Doberman Talk to turn up the heat on these guys.
Here's Mensa demonstrating the true dangerous nature of the breed:
This little girl was camped right next us at Cloverdale KOA last night, she and Mensa became fast friends. |
