Omg, after going to dogfoodadvisor.com I am making the switch! I was feeding plain ole pedigree, now I see it has only a 1 star rating. I have 5 large breed dogs and go through 55 lbs a week. I am goin to switch to all life stages exclusive.
Make sure you transition them over slowly. Going from such a low quality food to a higher quality food, especially quickly, can be hard on a dog's stomach.

Should I go by the recommendations for feeding amounts? My mastiff weighs 130# and right now eats 5 cups a day and my 7m Dobe eats 8 cups a day. Seems like I should be able to lower that amount?
WOW Glad you are making the switch. Do it slowly over a 7-10 day period. Don't get discouraged if one the higher end food does not work. There are lots to choose from. You might have to find the right one. Each dog is different. We like the Grain Free ones.
You can add some plain Pumpkin to help.
You can start with the feeding range on the bag. You will be feeding lesser amount with the higher end foods.
We feed Acana to our boys. They are about 83# They get about 3 cups a day.
Also only feed high quality treats.
