| Healthy add ins? I'm looking for suggestions for things I can add to Gunner's food or for a treat. He currently gets cottage cheese, eggs, and sardines as treats. What do you give your pups that is healthy?

| We give some fresh veggies occasionally, and small pieces of apple occasionally as well. If i'm having a barbecue, I'll toss a piece of hotdog. The veggies and apple are small amounts, just a snack so they don't fill up on empty calories. |

| Just some food for thought - the more we add into a meal, the more we may throw off the "balance" of the food. That's not to say I don't add things Just to keep in mind.
I eat healthy (really really healthy). My dogs get all our leftovers that don't have onions, anything else toxic or anything spicy (rare since I have IBS). Just about anything I eat, they can eat. Last week they got our leftover ground turkey, sweet potato, asparagus meal.
A few weeks ago I fell of the healthy eating band wagon and had lots of yogurt going to expire in the fridge. They got plain yogurt, the cottage cheese close to expiring. I also don't add anything to puppy's food until I am 100% sure they are a good eater (so I don't create a picky eater).
For treats I use any kind of cheese or meat and then gluten or grain free treats that I get on sale I get the daily deals from Barking Dog and doggy loot.

| Coco eats raw everyday so sometimes she gets leftover cooked food which she thinks is a real treat. She likes different fruits, veggies, cheese and she loves licking out the yogurt container when we are done with it.

| This morning and last night the dogs got with their meal-
whole wheat pasta, egg beaters, extra lean ground turkey and artichoke hearts that we didn't finish over the weekend

| Thanks for the suggestions. I have to say though...sardines probably won't be happening again. Oh my goodness. He came and breathed on me after eating them and I seriously gagged. He reeked of fish for the rest of the day :p

| I think I have read at the vet office to not give your dog cheese (or very little). Does this sound familiar to anyone else? |

| We often make a homemade soup with many veggies, including a full head of cauliflower.
I put in all the nice white bulbs/flowers, into the pot.
Years ago I use to just throw out the stem bits or root - Now, I cut it up into 1/4" cubes, and Amy loves them.
- might get a few cups, of cubed cauliflower for free

| Bronson is fed raw but he gets
eggs, yogurt, apple, tuna, cheese, omg he LOVES CHEESE. If you even open the cheese drawer in the fridge he comes running
my bf got him addicted to pita chips
Well feed him leftover human food occasionally, like if we had chicken or steak or ground turkey. He doesnt care for veggies tho.
Loves to chew up carrots but wont eat them, just makes a mess

| A tablespoon of yogurt almost every morning. Or a dash of Kraft parmesan cheese to add flavor.
Sometimes I cook her an omelette: Olive oil, egg, cheese/"natto" (Fermented 'stinky' soy beans), no seasoning of course and let it cool enough before serving.
In autumn/winter, I add some sliced apples, steamed sweet potatoes or pumpkins.
Oh, they drive Elza crazy! She jumps around waiting for her meals. Her favorites |
