FYI PetSmart just bought Chewy.com

A price hike will likely follow this.

Allergic Kip gets a special kind of dog food made by IAMs, which I bought at Chewy.com (cheaper than my vet). Iams was acquired by Mars pet food, who already owns Royal Canin. Kip’s Iams food was discontinued and its equivalent is now produced by Royal Canin--basically the same recipe. Only for $20 more a bag.

Did you say “price hike”?

I'm not going to assume a price hike or any changes until they actually happen. A change in ownership is certainly disappointing, but they are saying, at this point, that Chewy is still going to be run by the same people with pretty much independence. Of course it certainly *could* happen, but it also may stay essentially the same, with profits just going to Petsmart overall, as many brands do in the grand scheme of things. I will wait to see how things play out.

I'll deal with any possible price hikes if and when they come. And even if they do raise prices, pure convenience could still win out in the end. Not having to go to the store and load up two bags of dog food and five cases of cat food, then getting home and reversing the process is a major plus, IMO.

Unfortunately I can't get my dog food off of that site because it's an exclusive food at the store I get it from, and my Husky has a sensitive stomach. It's the only other food I could find that is high end and doesn't tear up her stomach.

I work at Petsmart and since we were bought out we've raised prices on everything in store hugely. I would be very surprised if they did not raise Chewy's prices, especially considering a few sites are claiming Chewy had zero profit last year.

I actually ordered a large crate for the puppy I'll be getting in 10 days and Chewy.com ended up sending me the soft Krate2, but in a smaller size. It's more expensive, and probably better made, but it doesn't have the divider needed.
I called them about it and they pretty much gave me the Krate2 and are sending me the one I original ordered lol
