I was feeding PPP when I originally brought Eli home and got him off of Pedigree. After doing a lot of reading here (I found this site after rescuing Eli), and learning a LOT about dog food, I switched Eli to Taste Of The Wild Pacific stream. HUGE difference in his gas, coat, and energy level! He also only eats a little more than half of what he was with either the Pedigree or PPP.
Just FYI, for those of you who have not really researched about this topic, please please please read about dog food. I used to think that the information out there was just from a bunch of PETA-type extremists, but as I read more and more from multiple sources, my eyes were opened. I may not be feeding the BEST in the world, but I KNOW that what I am feeding now is in an entirely different category than what I had been feeding Eli and my other dogs in the past. I know that many dogs do perfectly fine with some of the cheapest foods made, but I cannot support the use of many of the ingredients used in the other dog foods.

Pedigree is utter crap. I was feeding my old mixed breed, not knowing about the food alergy stuff. She had hair falling out, biting(no fleas), etc. The doberman rescue lady suggested switching to Solid Gold. Within a few weeks she was feeling great, pep in her step(she was 13 at the time), and her hair was growing back. I was so glad to get her on a good quality food.
Harbinger 1-12-10 to 12-18-15 RIP my boy, you will be missed greatly!!

I only picked Innova because that's what Jackson is eating, but my other dogs get EVO.
Can I have some more info on Pro Plan? I was under the impression that it wasn't all that great... but it is significantly cheaper and god knows I could use the extra money.

California Natural, EVO, Innova, Etc
Well I was using California Natural but will be looking for something else now due to the email I received below:
If you purchased Innova, EVO, California Natural, HealthWise, Mother Nature, or
Karma dog or cat food you could get a payment from a class action settlement.
A $2,150,000 settlement has been reached with Natura Pet Products, Inc., Natura Pet Food, Inc., Natura Manufacturing and Peter Atkins ("Defendants" or "Natura") in a class action lawsuit about the advertising of Natura brand dog and cat food. Natura denies all of the claims in the lawsuit, but has agreed to the settlement to avoid the cost and burden of a trial.
Who is included? If you received this by email or mail, you are probably included. Generally, the settlement includes anyone in the U.S. who purchased Natura brand dog or cat food products anytime between March 20, 2005 and July 8, 2011. Together these people are called a "Class" or "Class Members."
What does the settlement provide? The maximum payment you can get is $200. A $2,150,000 settlement fund will be created by Natura. After paying attorneys fees of up to 35% of the fund and costs and expenses of up to $60,000 to the lawyers representing the Class; the costs associated with administering the settlement of up to $400,000; and up to $20,000 to the Class Representative (Judy Ko), payments will be made to Class Members who submit valid claim forms.
How do you ask for a payment? Submit a claim online, at Natura Pet Food - index, using the claim number and password information above or by mail by calling 1-888-768-2047. The deadline to submit or mail your proof of claim form is January 8, 2012.
What are your options? You have a choice about whether to stay in the Class or not. If you submit a claim form or do nothing, you are choosing to stay in the Class. This means you will be legally bound by all orders and judgments of the Court, and you will not be able to sue or continue to sue Natura about the legal claims resolved by this settlement. If you stay in the Class you may object to the settlement. You or your own lawyer may also ask to appear and speak at the hearing, at your own cost, but you don't have to. The deadline to submit objections and requests to appear is December 28, 2011. If you do not want to stay in the Class, you must submit a request for exclusion by December 28, 2011. If you exclude yourself, you cannot get a payment from this settlement, but you will keep any rights to sue Natura for the same claims in a different lawsuit. The detailed notice explains how to exclude yourself, object and request to appear.
The court's fairness hearing. The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California will hold a hearing in this case (Ko v. Natura Pet Products, Inc., No. 5:09cv2619), on February 17, 2012, at 9:00 a.m. to consider whether to approve: the settlement; attorneys' fees, costs, and expenses; and the payment to the Class Representative. If the settlement is approved, it will release the Defendants from all claims in the Settlement Agreement.
HOW DO YOU GET MORE INFORMATION? To get a copy of the detailed notice or settlement agreement or to learn more, visit Natura Pet Food - index or call 1-888-768-2047.
The United States District Court for the Northern District of California has ordered that this email notice be sent. If you wish to UNSUBSCRIBE from future email messages from the Claims Administrator with regard to this settlement, please click here.

Gunner is currently on Taste of the Wild. In my past experiences, a lot of the other brands cause loose stools and tummy upsets. NOT something I want to deal with while potty training! Gunner has a gorgeous shiny coat and no gas...we will likely stick with it.

Iams Premium Protection: wonderful coat, poop consistency and amount, no more farts, very palatable, and reasonable amount. It's also a brand I trust. Primarily fed because the GSD does great on it: He used to eat 5-9 cups/day (he's 30kg), depending on the food we tried, with very loose stools, and looked very malnourished and skinny. He's actually put weight on now, is down to 3.75 cups/day, normal BM for the first time in his life and everyone can't get over how soft and wonderful his hair-coat is When choosing a diet price is not a concern, but it was nice to find that the best high-quality food for the shepherd was also reasonably priced.

I do half raw, but the kibble I feed is Diamond Naturals. Would probably move it on up to TOTW without the raw, but the DN + raw is much more affordable!

Started with Nutro (aweful).
Went to Blue Buffalo. The black nutrient bits were all over the floor and my mini schnauzer would clean them up. Made her sick as she was consuming too many B vitamins, what the vet thought.
Changed to Innova and like it alot. The first 3 ingredients are turkey. chicken meat/meal and the next 3 are barley/brown rice/rice.

Don't know if I've written what I'm actually feeding everyone but the list is as follows:
Royal Canin Boxer formula (need the big kibbles and the fat content)
Royal Canin Chihuahua formula (for now.. might switch Piper to something else to see if she sheds less)
Natural Balance Duck & Potato (might have to change that one too... Cassius' allergies are acting up again after two years of no reaction)
California Naturals Large Bites (Jeremy's bulldog)
Ol' Roy Maximum (it's junk but it's the only thing that keeps weight on Jer's husky)
Yep. Six dogs, six different foods. I know I'm insane.

Never Will Forget You
I used to feed Niko Pro Plan.
He has seizures and so far we have not had good control. I researched this until I got a headache. Almost two weeks ago we switched him over to Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream.
I did so for a few reasons:
1. No rosemary, this is a trigger for many sz dogs.
2. No grain, grain is not nutritious, it is used as a filler in dog food.
3. Many vitamins & minerals excluded in most dog foods are in this one.
I was never one to be a food Nazi, until I realized that diet MAY have a negative role in the control of my seizure dog. Fingers crossed it helps!

I use two different types of food; I mix 50% Instinct and 50% ACANA Pacifica. My girl does really well with this mixture; we have played around with a lot of foods due to her sensitive stomach. The last food we tried before the combo was Blue Buffalo Basics. BB Basics was good, but she was still having periods of soft mud pies. ACAN gets my thumbs up along with Instinct; Sasha now has formed regular stools

I was feeding Primal Pet Foods frozen raw diets rotated between varieties. They are based in NorCal. After moving to TX, it's hard to find and I don't feel it's a great idea to order it for delivery to our house. Although they do have a freeze-dried line of foods now that is worth trying.
Now I feed Orijen Regional Red dry kibble as the staple of their diet. At dinner, I mix in Nature's Variety Instinct canned food rotated between varieties. They also get one MegaRed krill oil capsule with dinner and 3 days/week, they each get a raw egg with one of their meals.
As treats, they get one bully stick per day, 1/2 dental chew before bed, Zuke's Naturals training treats (when training or stuffed into a Kong with peanut butter and frozen). They also love organic bits of carrots and apples (no seeds).
I've attached a link to a very informative article I found today about the ingredients in dog treats and various low-grade dog foods. Some of these are equivalent to the ingredients in cigarettes, IMO. Scary.

None of the kibbles mentioned in the poll is available in India.
Here we have only Pedigree (ordinary and professional range), Royal Canin, Hills science plan, Drools and other local brands available.
