I'm with you on that. Khaos's ears stand too. I did notice that during the first couple weeks of the teething the tips were getting a little weaker but they still stood they just felt softer. I don't leave them unposted for longer than 30 to 60 minutes maximum. I'm so paranoid that I will stop too soon. Khaos is getting towards the end of the teething. He lost 3 of his K9's yesterday. The 4th one is holding but I can see the adult one pushing out right in front of it. He lost an upper premolar today and has one more on the other side to loose. His adults look to be mostly cut through the gum but not yet fully emerged. Of course I'm not a dentist but that's how it looks to me.

All the posting pups I've personally dealt with have been cropped as late as 16 weeks** and all have stood by 6 months at the latest often earlier....
That being said I have seen and am currently helping post dogs that aren't done till 9 months to 2 years old.
You get what you get and you just have to be on top of them until they are done
**(I haven't seen problems from this, but do reccomend 12 weeks and under personally) | Sam I am going to ask for your opinion on FB often then, if you don't mind.

LindaH, your input was really encouraging. I wonder why that idea is rallied against. | Several reasons...a lot of people simply don't know it's possible for ears to stand that soon (several years back some members were actually ridiculing a person for saying his puppys ears were done after one posting). People get tired of posting and quit too soon, so lots of encouragement is promoted. People stress over ears too much, afraid they won't stand. It's not really that hard to get ears to stand ad long as you keep posting and don't allow them to fall or drop completely consistently between postings. Every time they fall you are set back a little or a lot, depending on how far they are allowed to fall and how long they are left down before reposting.
IMO, the number one reason for floppy ears is people getting tired of posting and giving up. Quote:

It can be a white knuckler for sure. Sometimes they will sleep on one of their ears, so one or even both will be floppy when they first get up. But they will start straightening and be back up in a couple of hours.

My boy is full of fire and life so 3+ weeks of not posting his ears then having to go back and do them again, getting him reacclimated to the process was NO FUN.
NO fun at ALL.
I was constantly fixing what he used to simply accept and leave in- he'd kick those posts out, pick at them. Ugh it was such a PITA vs when we were on a routine.
Not having had other cropped dogs before I've no words of wisdom on record time for ears to stand but just had to chime in that getting them back into the swing when you thought you won the ear lottery & were done sucks.
Oh and my boy decided to hate the *bleep* out of breathe rites & would not leave those alone- ripped one 1/2 way off during a handling class once which was fun watching him have a bright red irritated ear.
Maybe I did them wrong but I tried hard to compromise after having not posted for weeks.
And yeah, he was teething. After all that grief I think I kept posting him into the 7th month as did not want to return to the daily fighting w/destroyed posts & we'd begun showing. Those ears were going to be perfect or I would die trying! ~8D
Your girl's ears are very nice btw, pretty girl.

| Is it possible I'm done with posting?? We only posted for 5-1/2 weeks initially, and her ears stayed up great! However, they've been unposted for 2 months now, and I just started noticing that her ears were looking curvy... After I saw a picture from 2 months ago, it was quickly apparent that her ears have "wilted" (as AgileDobe accurately coined it). We will be posting again, and hopefully it will work as she finished teething about a month ago...
So if you do leave your dog unposted, take pictures often - make sure you compare them so you can see when/if there's a change. With Bella's, it happened so gradually, i didn't even see it until now!! Hopefully you won't make the same mistake I did! Sent from Petguide.com Free App |

It's a little tricky trying to focus the phone camera with one hand while hold him and keeping his mouth open with the other, all without him moving so much that it doesn't get blurry. There is no way I can hold the Nikon steady enough with one hand, it's too heavy. What I do have is a picture of the the first two missing teeth. (12/13/12) I sent that to his breeder since I wanted to mark that occasion. The second picture I sent to my husband since it was the first baby tooth I actually found (I only found 4 total). And the third picture I again sent to my breeder last night because I was concerned that the baby K9 was still solidly in his gum while the adult one was pushing out next to it instead of underneath it and I asked her opinion (did I mention she has the patience of a saint with a neurotic puppy owner like me? Thank you Michelle). I did however find the baby k9 this morning on his dog bed. So yeahhh.
