Do cropped ears always stay up?

My puppy is about 5 1/2 months old. When she wants them to, they stand up perfectly straight. But other times she gets them to go limp, kind of backwards. Are the ears always supposed to stand up no matter what? When I pet her she lets them down but stands them up quickly is she sees or hears something. Just wondering if her ears are doing good, if they go limp sometimes. (You know, concerned parent)

If it looks like she's pointing the tips a little towards her behind, all is well. If they look like they're flopping over and the tips point towards the ear canal, she needs more time in posts. Dobies put their ears back the same way any other dog does, theirs just stand straight up when alert.

Dogs with cropped ears can still lay their ears back (think of a really pissed off cat, lol). Here's what they should look like both erect and laid back:

Hara's took forever to stand. I was posting until she was 16 months. They will still go inwards at times a bit. And that was a medium crop -done in Russia. I still laugh when I think about asking the breeder in Moscow how much the crop was she said- "very expensive, $65". I did not tell her that my Vet charges almost as much as much as what she was charging for the dog and the crop.

I am a little confused as when to use the breathe-right strips. Sebastian is 5mo and his ears are standing up beautifully (for 2 wks now). The very tip of one tends to point in slightly. Would putting the strips on vertically help this situation?? How does one know when posting is done for sure?? Is it when they stay up for 1 week after posting is removed? Is it that simple? or is there an average age?? My last 2 guys where through the posting stage when we got them. thanks

Sounds very normal to me. In my opinion, a dobes ears when done correctly should resemble a shepherds sometimes a shepherds are standing straight up sometimes they are tilted sometimes folded down they shouldnt look fake.
