Thought maybe everyone can write here who they like or used for a vet to crop their pup/litter. Maybe it could be a sticky if it turns into a good thread!

p.s. Anyone know a vet who crops in the New England area, just curious. I have heard good things about Dr. William Truesdale in Seekonk Mass, but just wonderdering if anyone has any experience with him personally on here.

William Martin, 'Dr. Bill', of Biltmore Veterinary Clinic in Asheville, NC. A retired vet who now works only as a ear trim, corrective ear crop surgeon. He used to breed/show Great Dane's, people come from all over the country for his services.....and he's a great knowledgable person to be around.

I just took my puppy to Dr. Bill. I don't know if maybe I just got a bad day or what, but the stitch line was incredibly uneven and I wouldn't go back to him. The ears do not look great. Granted, I am a first time ear cropping person, but I work at a veterinary hospital and I know what sutures are supposed to look like.

I agree. Unfortunately, we do have people that come on the forum who have gotten their puppies from backyard breeders- or that need a re-crop.

I think this is a good thread that will hopefully help people who need to find a decent cropper- and will stop some of those threads we always see about horrible crop jobs.

Also, a lot of awesome working breeders leave their dogs natural for competition in other countries and leave the cropping and docking to the buyer.

PLUS, I just think it's good to know who your breeder is using for cropping a litter- I find it interesting.

Brooksville Fla. clinic, can't think of the vets name but he crops for Carosel & Vello, Allison from Vello works there and their reputation is very high. Von.

GK's link already listed the vet I was going to recommend. Kuna's ears were done before we got her, but he took care of all the after crop ear care. Sitting in the waiting room waiting to get Kuna's ears re-racked I saw a ton of his crops on dobes, boxers and pit bulls, all gorgeous.

I live in Southern California and this vet came highly recommended by the local chapter of the DPCA. My pup's ears were done by the breeder in Arizona and I'm not too sure who that vet was... ears are nice though :)

Anyway, I think this thread is interesting, people's opinions and what not.

Cropping / posting is a big deal in the Doberman world so is probably going to constantly be the starting question of many a thread.

Most people who first start out here may not be too used to using a search tool... I wasn't when I first started. I didn't even know there was a search to forums. All the old forums I was on didn't have a search (at least none that I was aware of.)

Needless to say, I do not see any reason why this thread cannot continue.

Not everyone on here buys from a reputable breeder (unfortunate but true) who gets the pup with the ears already done.

All of my dogs were cropped by Ann Platt (from Montana) - but she travels a lot, so I'm not sure how anyone would go about getting her to crop a single puppy.

Here is one of Ann's pet crops (on a pair of naturally very short ears) from about 8 years ago:

Dr. Sam Grant of Kaywood Dobes, does an excellent job. He is located near Cincinnati, Ohio. He did my last litter and they are all beautiful and noone had any problem getting them to stand!
Dr. Patty Edwards also does a beautiful job. She lives in Ga.
Dr. Sophia Koster of Eastwick Dobes does a beautiful job also. She is located in Eastern, Pa area.

There is a Dr. Mains in Allegan, Mich that does a nice job.....(western part of Michigan)
A Dr. Larry Lesche in Novi, Mich area that also does a nice job too....
MiTi Dobes in Mich used a Karen Wrewbleski in Ferndale, Mi area, and I saw her puppy's ears and they were cropped really nice......

Just as a note, Sophia Koster DVM is in central New Jersey, but does ears for many of the breeders in the tri state area of PA, NJ, NY, and Maryland too. She did all three of my guys and my last litter. She truly is an artist.

To add to the list, I believe that Merry Fitzgerald DVM from Long Island NY also does ears for show people.

I didn't know about this vet until after Louie got his ears cropped. Most of the DFW people in the area who have breeds that are generally cropped go here:

Perrin's were done by the same vet that Kpablo recommended, Dr Debbie Schaffer, I have seen some of her pet crops, too, and I really prefer her show crops, they have a much better shape.
