Hey guys I took my pups posts down for the first time tonight. They were posted from the breeder. Overall I think the ears look pretty good but a spot on the back of the ear worries me most. I used unisolve, but the tape was still very sticky coming off. I have a appt with a vet about a hour away that has experience in cropping/posting tomorrow evening. Should I just put antibiotics on these and let them breathe til then? That's what I'm leaning towards.
There's definitely a sore there... just clean the ear and let it down to breathe.
Always leave ears down if there are sores. He's young enough it won't affect posting/his ears standing and it's way more important to let the ear heal and be healthy.
Yeah^^^^ what sam and mel said. Ear tips are particularly prone to necrosis if the flesh is not completely heathy. Mel mentioned not to use hydrogen peroxide. You also want to stay away from rubbing alcohol.
You have plenty of time to get those pretty ears up!
Not sure if the pictures do it justice but it looks 10x better this morning. The swelling is completely gone and coloration is back to normal. My breeder said she had this problem with another pup as well. She said the vet suggested a new method over cups this time where she simply flipped the ears over and used a spot of adhesive on the tips to stick to a piece of tape on the head. obviously she won't be going that route again. Some kind of reaction to the adhesive maybe?
I would agree with your breeder, likely a reaction to the adhesive or some part of the set up he had prior Glad to see it looking better!
He'll be all set to post once it's 100% healed!
