My boy is almost 7 months old, he had his ears done at 12 or 13 weeks and I've been posting consistently since then. His right ear is standing perfectly and has been for about a month now. However the left one seems to have a little fold or kink in the outer edge that is making the top half of his ear flop.
I was going to continue posting as I have been with the backer rod reinforced with duct tape and the bumpers on the back. but I'm wondering if there's anything else I should be doing.
You can see the little "kink" in the second picture on the inside of his ear
You could try posting just the upper part with breathe rite strips. There are a few how-to's on the forum about that. I'd give that a go for a few months before you consider surgical correction.
Just keep posting. Make sure that you post both ears. I have had dogs that were posted through 8 months and then the tips supported for a few more. The end result being great. I have known several pups who needed to be posted for over a year. There is a sage here on DT, whose show dog finished at 16 months and was STILL being posted. Remember, your pup's ears were cropped a tiny bit later than is most ideal.
Just stick with it

Edit: Just saw greenkoukis comment (beat me too it). I would also agree with that. (sort of) Still.... If your pup is less than 7 months old, I can't see the harm in keeping his ears in posts. If you decide to use soft tip support, I have seen way better luck with double thickness mole foam cut 3" x 3/8" and adhered with skin glue.
Well, I posted his ears without a break for 2 weeks, they stood very well for about a day then flopped back to the way they are in the picture. Posted again for just over a week and when I took them out this time his ears looked about the same as the pictures I posted here in June. He's 8 1/2 months. Should I keep posting if I haven't seen any progress?
Don't make it something that he should be tired of. Make it a fun time. If you're calm and having fun, he is likely to be calm and having fun. Also make it a time where he gets lots of great treats. My girl literally could not have cared less about posting and we had to do it past 7 months. Just keep posting.er
