I am new to the site, and and very happy I have found it! i have been doing lots of research on cropping as my little man "Jack" had his ears cropped today. He is home from the vet and doing fine. The question I have is what can i expect from my little man in the next few days, to a week when he is sore and healing?

This is so funny that you ask because i just got Rain's ears cropped 2 days ago and so far she has been in a lot of pain. The first day was fine because she had gauze and wrapping over her ears but when i took them off she freaked out and there was definitely a considerable amount of blood. She also had an e-collar on due to head shaking and scratching but each time she touched the cone she freaked. I'm hopeful for the advice other have to share and I hope your experience goes better than mine!

Take the e collar off and see if he will leave his ears alone. Most puppies don't need e collars and they can cause stress for your puppy.

He should get along just fine. Just leave his ears alone and don't call attention or baby him over them. The stitches should come out in 10 days or so. DON'T post till the ears are completely healed.

For starters the ears should have never been wrapped because the dried blood will stick to the gauze and cause great pain when you remove the gauze. A bad way to start with bad memories for your puppy about someone messing with her ears. This may cause problems when you start posting her ears.

Try removing the cone...read above.
