| DVDPA (Rescue Org) Hi folks. I figured someone here could help me with this. Every year my husband and I donate to a few charities around Christmas. We want to donate to the DVDPA this year (and the next, and the next!), and I'm just wondering if anyone knows much about this particular organization, at least more than I can get online. I can't find them on CharityNavigator.org, but I have spent some time on their website. They seem like a reputable, well-meaning organization...does anyone know anything different?
Thanks in advance for your help. You guys are great. |

| I donate to DVDPA every year and know the people who run it. They rehome a lot of Dobermans and have been doing it for well over 20 years - I run the raffle table at their annual picnic every year.
No rescue is perfect, but I'd be very comfortable that any money that goes to DVDPA does directly help the dogs. They do not have their own kennel and have space (at a small discount) at a local boarding kennel & they use the same vet I do. They have board and vet bills every month - without donations they could not do what they do. The cost to adopt a dog from them rarely covers what that dog actually cost them to rehome.
If you have any questions - I am happy to answer them to the best of my ability.

| We volunteer year round with DVDPA. I know all the members and I love this group. We set up at several events every year. I can mirror MJ's statement that the money donated rarely covers the costs needed for all the vet bills. We've also fostered several dogs and have taken everyone of them in for full vet work/spay/neuter/teeth work/sickness, etc,.

| Thanks for all of the input! We did make a donation, and we added a few other rescues in there as well. Always feels good to help. |

| so cool that there are many who love to help Doberman in need.
PortersMama, bless you for helping.
I think we need to Showcase a different Rescue every month here in the rescue section.
so why not start with the.................. DVDPA!
They could be DT's Rescue organization for the month of January!
maybe we could even get a DT rescue dobe calender going.............. a dog showcased from the rescue org of each month..maybe.....
just a thought or two.
Hugz to ALL Doberman in need!
