6 month old Blue female

I'm trying to convince a woman that lived a few miles from me to give me this puppy so I can find her a home. She is being kept outside with no shelter because she is "too wild", its been below freezing the past few nights!! they bought her for breeding and she's trying to sell her on Craigslist for $350 with papers. If I can convince her to give her to me Id like to foster her through a rescue to help with good placement. She will obviously need to be spayed. I'm in Southwestern, Indiana.

In Oklahoma, it is animal cruelty to leave an animal outside without shelter or water in any weather. I would think that you have laws against this too. It is worth a call to ask.

Poor puppy, the cruelty some people do is unreal. If you are cold or hot, they are. I'd do what I could to get her to give up that puppy but most of these types are looking for pocket change.

You are right. I apparently offended her. She says she is pampered and spoiled . No way she will just give her to me and I charge a rehoming fee when she has $1000 wrapped up in her. She will just keep her and breed her. . She is asking $350 on Craigslist..

I'd call legal authorities and report her.

so sad! it isn't fair that this is the only life that dog will lead should she wind up in the wrong hands yet again...

could you make aother e-mail just for this cause and reply to the craigslist ad again? maybe call the local rescue ad see if they can get involved? ac?

if you met in the middle would they still accept?? the older the dog the harder to place... most times, anyway.

Well I made her mad. She doesn't like the idea of someone else rehoming her. She wants to find a forever home herself or she will just keep her and breed her as planned. She claims she is of excellent bloodlines and has full AKC papers, etc..... My fiancÚ tried contacting her before and she wants $350. If someone else can go about it in a better way ill still take and foster her. I found a Rescue group that will help with placement and get her spayed.. She's on Craigslist...Indiana and then go under Evansville.. I'll pay $100 to help get her. I feel sick for this dog!!

Call animal control. Now. That will get her attention.

Edit: most rescue groups will not pay for a dog. They rarely have the funds and it's a very grey area ethically.

I have. They said as long as it has food, water and shelter they won't do anything, but will check into it...

I was going to offer $100 from myself then place it through a rescue and foster her. I know I wouldn't get that money back. If it wasn't so close to Christmas I'd pay the lady $350. .

The problem with paying the woman the $350 is that she'll just turn around and repeat the cycle or even further it by breeding the next one....

Going through it legally and by getting her shut down or getting the dog for free are the best options.

Hugs and hope to the poor puppy.

Well AlliDobe, if you get her from the hell she is in, I will give her a home where she will (in all likely hood) be sleeping in one of our beds, and her energy will be re-directed to doing obedience and maybe some agility. The only glitch I see is that I live on Long Island NY, so getting her would require some logistics work which I'm sure we could work out!

Will the lady let you put up a shelter for her? What about a heat lamp? All of our outside animals (Goats, horses ect.) Have heat lamps in their houses (plus it doesn't generally get very cold here) Heat lamps are like $25-$30 and will raise the temp 10/15 degrees for her, if you add some hay under it that raises it some, possibly a dog house you can put the heat lamp in? Thats a pretty cheap way to help the puppy while you figure out a permanent solution- perhaps the woman wouldn't take offence that way. "Hey I know she is your puppy, but it's really cold and I have an extra heat lamp, dog house and some blankets- do you mind if I put them out for her and if you re home her they can go with her as well"
