This was posted on my FB page. He is in the Eastern PA area:

"**PLEASE SHARE - on your wall and in any groups or on any pages allowed**
Time Is Up for Max!! 6 yrs old and dumped at the shelter by an owner who says he was home alone 23 1/2 hours a day. He has severe anxiety and is licking/chewing his legs raw.

Max was scheduled for euthanasia on Friday, December 7th. If he is not out by this Thursday, he WILL die!!

A foster home (Eastern PA area) is needed to help this boy. Please email to avonlakeshia@yahoo.com if you are interested in fostering or helping in any other way. PLEASE SHARE!"

Just saw this today (Mon 9th).

Sad. Hope someone saved him, I wish I had seen it on Friday, would've tried to make phone calls up there (I have family up there.)

Shame and he's so sweet looking.

Just wanted to let everyone know that Max is safe. He was picked up last night and will be evaluated. This person is still looking for a foster for him so if anyone knows of anyone interested, please let me know or email her at the email given above.

I have seen quite a few Dobies stop chewing on themselves as soon as they were in a home where they got lots of attention, love and exercise!

This was posted on my friend's FB page today:

"Sorry for the late update; it's been a crazy week. We picked Max up late Thursday night and he's here, safe. Photos should be posted later today. Max will be seeing the vet soon so we can work on healing his legs up and we plan to have his thyroid tested. His legs are very raw and swollen (both front legs and one back leg has a small lick granuloma too). He needs to put on weight but once he settles down he should eat better.

As we get to know Max better we'll screen any interested parties to find him a suitable foster home. We would prefer to send him to a place where someone is home often, so that he can be supervised to make sure he's not constantly licking his legs, so they are given a chance to heal. He gets along with other dogs but they must be able to mind their own space, as he is uncomfortable with other dogs getting too close to his legs and will not tolerate constant pestering. A relatively quiet home is a must, as this boy needs to decompress and have a chance to heal all around from all that he's been through.

Poor guy. Hoping and praying he will find a forever home soon.

From his foster. "Max is doing well. His anxiety doesn't seem to be as huge a problem as we thought it would. His fungal culture came back that he has ringworm infection in his legs where his lick granulomas are and unfortunately he's still wearing his e-collar but his legs are looking MUCH better. We picked up his medicine last night and hope to continue healing his legs up so he can get out of the e-collar. When Max gets out of his e-collar we should have a better idea of what his personality is truly like and whether his legs will be an ongoing problem. That will give us a better idea of the type of home he'll be suitable for."

"I'll have to get you a video of the little jig he does when he's excited. When we come home, he does these little quick little hops off his front legs..it's really cute! And he likes to nibble on you if you don't pay attention to him. He's full of character!"

Will post pictures as soon as she does.

Max's legs are healing up nicely. His foster says he is wearing the cone of shame less and less and only when someone is not at home with him. Hoping and praying he will be ready for adoption soon. Just 2 pictures of the progress:

I just learned from Max's foster Mom that his heart stopped this morning. She rushed him to the emergency vet and he is under their care at the moment. He is showing tons of VPC's, fluid in his lungs. They are trying to get him stablized so they can get him to a cardiologist. Please send lots of good thoughts and prayers. Max really needs them. His legs have finally been healing and he only needs the collar of shame on when his foster parents are gone. He just got a new flexible one so it is easier on him. His foster Mom says he is the sweetest guy she ever met. So very sad.

That is exactly how I feel. If it is the end for him, at least he has been in a loving home where people cared for him and showed him all the love the could. Breaks my heart too.

Aww what a sweet dobe. I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers for a fast recovery. I am so sorry for everyone who is going through all this. Sounds like he has some good people who are doing everything for him and love him dearly.
