| 5 yr old, B/R, docked/natural boy in WV kill shelter This sweet boy is in a municipal shelter, and in need of vet care.
He was adopted out once, over a week ago, and promptly returned as they said he "wasn't good with other dogs."
He was adopted to an inexperienced home, with an intact male Pit, so, dunno who thought that had a fabulous chance of working out.
He did not react or try to fence fight with any dogs when I was handling him, but it's the shelter environment. <shrug>
He passes kitty testing with flying colors and is so velcro as to be more like superglue.
In fact, getting any pics of him was a pure b*tch, as he wouldn't un-attach himself from my knee:
I did give him some yummy treats, mmmmm, he said.
I had to leave the kitty cubicle, just to get him out of my lap, to get some pics:
Walking around in the kitty room, leaving the kitties in peace, nice boy:
Um, lady, here I am. Is your knee not getting cold yet? Because...well, I could lean against it again for you, if you want:
Come back in here, please?
So, that is him, he's in kinda tough shape, stiff from sleeping on concrete, has complications from his neuter surgery and just generally needs pulled and some vetting and TLC.
Putting this out there for anyone who is looking for a nice boy, or any rescuers who could pull him.
I've got my hands full is a laughable understatement, and my friends all have similarly full to overflowing situations, and the rescue I sometimes pull for has zero foster placements.
His info is going to DAN, too, but just thought we'd network him as much as possible.

| | Alpha | Dang it all- if this board hadn't gotten me so worried about same sex aggression I would take him in a HEARTBEAT (you had me at ignored the cats).. That and Remy is still solidly in his training phase, I like to give puppies (or kittens) at least 6 months to a year of "me time" before adopting anyone new.
That being said, if a Doberman rescue (perhaps Distinguished Dobermans, where I adopted Remy) will list him, I might just be able to convince DH to let us foster that poor fellow. I have a nice dog room that leads to an outdoor kennel that is currently growing cobwebs. Remy is too young to use it, but it would give this guy a safe place to hang when I'm at work...
Let me know. |

Let me know. | Guys, my internet is very iffy and glitchy right now--I don't know but am just guessing it may be because someone *cough, cough* let their naughty Catahoula have too much freedom too soon and that said Catahoula just may have gnawed the cable nearly in two. I'm just speculating that's the cause
If anyone knows any contacts with DDRI, can you point them to this thread?
Heck, I know somebody, but am blanking on her username.
I'll try to get hold of them, too, but anyway feel free to network him.
That situation sounds ideal for him, bless you for offering. Depending on where you are, I can probably do the whole transport and just bring him to you.
Rescue pull fee is forty bucks, btw, if DDRI needs to know the amount.

| | Alpha | I messaged lestat- I know she works with DDRI. I am located in Morgantown- is that close enough for you to deliver him? I can always donate the $40 pull fee if that is a sticking point.
Now to work on the hubby tonight after work I really don't think he'll mind since we will not be using the dog room anytime soon. |

So, I guess we just wait to hear back from DDRI now, all crossables crossed.
Lestat if you need my phone number or email, just PM me.
I talked to the shelter this evening and he's not doing any better, but not any worse either. He, like most Dobermans, is just not thriving in that environment.
I'm gonna try to get free long enough tomorrow to run up and take care of him for a bit, at least get him out in the fresh air for a little while.
He is officially on hold for rescue now, too, so they have to call me before they would decide to euth him.

I hope the fact he has a foster home and transport lined up, and is already neutered, will help.

I think that is mainly what I am waiting on, just a Dobe in need that we can adopt out, but just have not found the right one or in the right location yet.

| I still haven't heard anything, guys.
If anyone else has, or knows more, please update us.
The hold for rescue was thru today.
I need to call the shelter in the morning and see if they will possibly extend his time, but as of now, he is likely in jeopardy of euth.
