My wife and I adopted Bentley (Dachshund) last December. The lady who owned him had gotten divorced. Her husband used to throw Bentley across the room so he'd hit the wall when he got mad. (I guess that's why he's the ex-husband). She moved in with her sister. They both got boyfriends so they were never at home. Bentley ended up spending days at a time locked in his small kennel. Sometimes without food or water.
The lady decided to give Bentley away. My nephew's wife found out about the conditions he was living in and just about hit the roof. She told Bentley's owner to give the dog to her, she had the perfect place for it. We had lost our youngest Dachshund due to a back injury about 6 months before. They brought Bentley over and my wife immediatly fell in love with him.
Our other 2 Dachshunds were also abused in their previous homes. We don't have as much information about them. But they are loved and protected now and that's what counts.
Here's a pic of Bentley right after we got him. He's put on a few pounds since then. He weighed 9.5 lbs when got him. Should be 14 to 15 pounds.
