Rescue Girl Here!

Well, we got our foster tonight. She is a lovely black and rust girl with natural ears and a docked tail. She is scared of everything! My husband helped me get her out of the crate in my van and she tried to bolt. We had a lead on her so she didn't go very far. We brought her in and first order of business was a bath. She smelled like she had been sleeping in cow sh*t for all of her life. Now, she smells sorta like cow pies, but I have faith it will get better. She is drying in her crate. I think she has a long road ahead, but she's young, she will be alright.
I will post pictures soon.
Husband named her Mandy. She is very cute and looks like a Mandy

Thank you, Thank you so much for helping with these KY dobies. It means the world to me! They will all need help in becoming pets but with foster moms like you, they'll be great in no time. Please keep me posted!

yay! good for you guys taking her in. Is she going on the IDR site? did you see the pictures from where they lived? (I think they are the same mill) no wonder she would stink!

Just have to give her time, had a puppymiller too and she was more flat in personality then scared but she definitely had her moments.

waiting on pictures!

Yep!

I think they're taking at least one more, I was going to take a girl myself but am swamped with a couple of senior poms and the blind dobie puppy at the moment.

Glad you have her! Sorry about the smell and all. Once things settle in a bit, please email a bio, pic(s) and we'll get her posted.

She's the 5th being run through IDR.

A bio right now would be bad. She is PARALYZED with fear. Right now she is laying in the corner of my kitchen, and has been for 2 hours. I am loathe to put her back in the crate at the moment. She's had so much stress it's awful. She ate a teeny bit of canned Merrick working dog stew, but wouldn't finish it. I gave the rest to Reggie in front of her. Hope she learns that if ya snooze, ya lose.
I have gotten her out to potty once, but with much struggle out and in. I am letting her watch the other dogs run in and out in hopes she will pick up the habit.

Good luck with it. I remember with Maggie I tried peanut butter, hot dogs, cheese, bread, dog treats, etc, etc. Though she did take a hamburger once.

That is so sad.... Hopefully she'll start settling in soon. I'm sure having your other dogs around (acting like normal dogs) will help her some. Poor girl... please keep us updated.

bleh, dobejazz - my hubby's family lives in Wisconsin, and we plan on doing a visit in the summer to see them. Can't I just sneak one of you back with me for a home visit then? I've got a nice large bag that I can pad nicely with blankets and pillows... I'll get you a camelback for fluids and pack some snacks.... and a headlamp. And a book. It's just 4 or 5 hours, right?

Ah, Dobes&Hounds, my heart is breaking for Mandy being so scared.

Damn millers--the physical damage they do to these animals is just the start of it.

Bless you for helping her, and I will send vibes her joyful spirit will feel safe enough to emerge soon.

Kristen--I love how IDR does the info, with the checklist, on each dog! That is just a super idea.

Nina, Bella, & Dana are from the same miller as Mandy. SWODR has done a great job getting these dogs moved out of the miller and into rescues.

Laura, will keep Mandy in my thoughts. I hope with time she realizes love is good.

Wow this is heartbreaking. Sitting in my cube at work with tears in my eyes thinking of the poor girl scared to death.

God bless you for taking her in and working with her. I'm sure she will soon realize that you are there to love her and not harm her.

Please keep us posted on how she is making gains
