| Have you tried a coat for the dog? Mine don't mind so much as long as the rain isn't pelting their back. the coat prevents that. |

| If mine don't go... they get crated right back up until they do. My cocker spaniel is an absolute nightmare about using the restroom in the rain. They have free access outdoors at all times but still sometimes she'll go indoors if it's raining so now if it's raining she gets crated until I take her out on a leash and SEE her go. |

| I guess I too am lucky, whilst Toby isn't keen on going out in the rain he thinks he will melt too he will go outside if I go with him, so I pop on my coat, pick up my umbrella and go for a wander around the compound until he has a pee/poop, however he won't go whilst on the leash.
Reina (Pointador, lol!) will go on the leash for a pee but so far not a poop.
Russell (Terrier) will pee whilst on the leash but likes a bit of distance between us when he has a poop.
When I open the door first thing and they look out and see it is raining they all look at me with a look as if to say. 'you are joking, right, oh, you're not, well if we have to get wet, guess who else has too. Get your coat mum.'
They have me trained. |

| Skoll won't poo in the rain and it rained until well into this morning, so like you it's been about 13 hours since he's pooped. I know he has to because his doberfarts are becoming a constant, but due to his weirdness about pooping inside he won't go on the floor if he can help it. I'll be trying again after class with the intention of waiting him out the entire hour if I must.
He pees just fine in the rain even though he gives me the abused doberman face if I don't find him a nice spot sheltered from most of the wet. He's still eating, drinking, and playing so I'm not concerned about an obstruction but man does my apartment smell like dog fart! We were out in the (warm) rain for about an hour last night and then another half hour (in the cold rain) this morning and nada. We've got another storm coming in too either today or tomorrow but it's supposed to be snow and he at least will go in that.
The weird thing is that he'll splash in puddles and goes in the shower willingly (and shoves his head in to shower with me in the evening!), but apparently won't do his business in the rain.

| Most hate to get rained on....I had many, many days standing in the rain with Chloe as a puppy trying to get her to go. (on the leash) She would scream! But I would walk around with her in a small part of the yard and tell her she's a good girl.....and to pee pee doo doo....then when she finally went I would give her a training prize immediately and have the pee pee doo doo party/dance and then run back in the house. (I'm sure I look like idiot to the neighbors!) She finally figure out we were not going in until she when....and the quicker she went the quicker she could get out of the rain. I did not want this to be an issue for the rest of her life. She still hates the rain but will do her business.

| I took the advise to go out in the rain and pee with them literally
I went out and marked a tree and Q got it and picked his own tree to mark. It was dark so wasn't too worried about getting a 'crazy neighbor' cop call.
The person that gave the advise later said - no - you go out with them and watch... kinda what dobebug said.

blueberry... ...to your Bob.
Most good men can justify their actions..."sorry dear, I am training the puppy - you know a better way, lets see it" ??
- as funny as this thread got headed, I like the "out of the box" approach sometimes
