so, out of nowhere, he barks....

Quincy is not a leash barker.. he just never has been one of those dogs that barks while we are out walking around with him on leash. Yesterday, we are headed out for our lunchtime walk... I close the gate, and as we head out down the neighborhood street, we see in the distance someone else doing the same thing with their dog - walking.. and Q barks! Not a mean hackley bark .. but a distinct attention getting couple of barks and the dog and the owner both turned and looked. Sometimes you wonder what goes through their heads.. like Q and this other dog know each other and Q was saying hi ? other dog caught Q's eye and he's flirting? Q is barking out to be saved from me?

sounds like he's getting to the age where coffee klatches and block parties are on his 'to-do' list. he's now old enough for a cell phone - get the kind that can auto-translate bark into text.

their pawprints in our hearts never fade

Hey if you deprive him of the technology that would help him keep in touch with his buds then he has to revert to the old fashioned way.

Besides, isn't it a must that you guys shout, 'Hey what about them Redskins'.

Or whichever team it is you guys have where you are.

I think what it is is Q and this other dog (I recognized the other dog) have been communicating through pee signals. and I think either (a) they've reached their limits in communicating ability through pee alone and needed to verbalize, or (b) Q was shouting out to acknowledge a previous pee message.
