| | Lil Dog | Would you adopt a dobe with a tail and uncut ears? I adopted my dobie. He is docked but uncropped. There are lots of dobies to rescue that are docked and cropped. There are also lots of bad dock/crop jobs. I'm so glad they didn't do my dogs ears BC they did his tail wrong and he has scar tissue on the end. I have to watch this and put coconut/vitamin e oil on it BC it cracks and bleeds. I'm so glad whoever did that didn't touch his ears! I love the look of both cropped and uncropped. However, I do get stopped by many people saying they love his natural ears. Sent from Petguide.com Free App |

Also, I would see what the rescue thinks about cosmetic surgeries such as cropping ears. Many will have you sign a contract for adoption (or the like) stating that you agree to adopt under certain restrictions, which probably involve in writing, unnecessary cosmetic surgeries.
Good luck! | There was a thread quite a while back about one. It had either a video and/or pictures Don't remember which, at the moment. It was a strange look for a Dobe.

Good luck! | I believe a member posted on here before, Beacuerons are basically what it looks like just without all the fluffy fur
From google images
This one is a mixed breed....
Dobe
Beauceron
I think the Beauceron pulls it off better with all their hair, it looks more natural like a shepherd...just imo

One day I will own one... or perhaps the lucky chance will come to adopt/rescue one!
But I agree that they do pull it off better.

But I agree that they do pull it off better. | My aunt's SO has one as a service dog...I admire the breed but just didn't feel the connection like with dobes...little to much hair too but I mean if one ended up on my door step....
But hey we're getting off topic

| When I saw Jordan's picture I was immediately in love. My husband was a little hesitant at first but that went away the second he met him. It took a few days to be completely used to the tail and now I just can't imagine him without it. As a matter of fact, have fought tooth and nail to keep it since he has major happy tail. I still think c/d dobes are stunning but I'm not missing anything with my all natural boy. He's still all doberman in every way. And, yes very clingy!! He's just not happy unless he's right up next to one of his humans. |

| Just wanted to add, I have just rescued a hunting dog, not a Dobe, but a Pointer cross Lab, she has her tail and boy was it so nice to hear it thump, thump, thump on the floor this morning when I went in to release her from her crate. |

| If you are getting a dobe from a rescue, then get one that is c/d. It would be very painful to do the tail at this age. I had 3 with tails and ears. 1 with a dock and natural ears, he was a stunning red boy. Lexi is c/d, but only one of her ears stands. I adopted her a 4 yrs. It will stand if she's excited or barky. I think it goes with her personality. I don't think I would attempt taking care of a pups ears, I'd be afraid I'd end up with Lexi ears. Natural ears are so soft. I love Dobermans, they are not like other dogs, not at all. I rescue only, my choice, there are just too many that need homes. Don't get me wrong, I see nothing in purchasing a dobe, as long as it is with a REAL breeder. I can understand the rescue not cropping or docking as the expense and not every vet can decent crop. I don't know what happened with Lexi's ears, but I think she is a beauty. I guess that's all that matters. Here is the little princess with her crappy crop. Also, she is drawf size and she has a long white stripe down her chest. She is the perfect example of a BYB. She could be the poster girl for them. But, she has a great personality, little shy at 1st. She is actually very funny.

| For me, I don't care about ears one way or the other but Tails and dew claws are a must for me. I have seen bad injuries due too dew claws getting caught on things so thats why they are a must for me. Tails on dobes just don't look right to me! But having said that, I think it comes down to the pup itself. Who cares natural or not, are you in love with the pup? JMHO.

| I would adopt an all natural Doberman. While I love cropped and docked and will always choose that first, a rescue is a different story. If I were to rescue it would be the dog with the right temperament/personality for me.

| Rubert is the best example of a natural Dobe.
Absolutly gorgeous, and a great boy.
Over the years, we have purchased 2 expensive well bred Dobes, both fully customised.
Our 3rd Dobe was adopted, and he has natural ears.
When looking for this dog, I didn't care whether ears were done, tails were done, or even their color. Disposition, health, and personality were the keys.
Our current Dobe Zachary has natural ears and everyone comments on how much they love them.
The ears suit his goofy playful personality. |

| Please do NOT dock the tail of a 10 week old pup!!!
If you want a docked pup, then get the approval of the rescue to have it done soon after birth or keep looking for another puppy that's already docked.

| Rupert is absolutely stunning. If I ever acquire an all-natural dobe, I want it to look just like him. My boy was c/d, but he's a rescue, and prior to adopting him I was looking for breeders that would let me have a 100% natural dog but still have the health tests and titles I was looking for.

I think he's adorable.

| Would I purposely seek out and purchase a drop eared and long tailed Doberman? No.
Would I adopt one from rescue if that's just how the cookie crumbled? Heck yes. |
