| How silly is your doberman? Ive had Logan for 4 months now and he does a few things that i find hysterical and wanted to share and to see what your dogs do that you find funny.
Here are a list of things Logan does:
1.When i get home from work, he charges up to me and my husband and throws his butt into us. Literally barrels in to us.
2. Ive learned that when i ask him "Did you miss us" he actually shows his top teeth like a smile and grunts
3. He knows how to unscrew his Kong toys to get out treats
4. he WILL NOT go outside if its raining and actually will sit there and look at me like are you serious. Unless i go get an umbrella he will not budge.
5. He will only eat when we sit down to eat and makes sure we are eating first
6. He will ring his "sleigh bells" on the door to go outside to the bathroom
7. at 11 pm every night almost on the dot, he gets up and goes in to the bedroom to his bed but if we turn off the tv he will wait for us to shut off the lights and wont go in to the bedroom until we are right there with him
8. When he passes gas his ears go back like he did something wrong
9. He sits on me like a chair when i am sitting on the floor with him
10. He will burry his head in your crotch so you can scratch him behind his ears.
11. if you dont pet him he will nudge your hand and put his head under your hand
12. he stomps his feet and barks (took video of this) when he wants attention. He will pick up his back leg and stomp.
13. he lays down and crosses his legs (a dobie thing)
14. he puts part of his butt on the couch cleverly to make it look like hes not sitting on the couch and will lean because he knows he isnt allowed on the couch.
Im sure i will think about 100 more lol. |

| Yep, you got yourself a gen-you-wine Doberman there!
They are crazy funny. Mine are also semi-nuts with antic behaviors similar to those you describe here.
I enjoyed reading this list so very much. Made me smile.
Mine make me laugh when they hear an animal noise on TV, look at the TV like it's a window, then barrel out the doggy door to attack the TV animal.
Fools 'em every time.

| | Big Pup | Sound spretty much on par with the behavior our two Dobes had, including the smiling when we got home and the sneaking the butt onto the couch knowing she wasn't suppose to. |

| Here is a list of things Cleo does
1. Ask her is she want to go out side spins in circles
2. When you pet her she will roll over on her back so you can get her belly
3. Pulls one sometimes both back legs on the couch with front off it.
4. She lays down she also crosses her legs.
5. Hit my room mate in the crotch with her noses at less once a day.
6. She wants to snuggle with your butt in my face (she can up out so heat).
7. Will jump in horse troffs Someone told me dobie are not water dogs. Somebody forgot to tell mine that.
8. If she has to stay at a friends house for a few days she will pace on day 2.
9. She will not go out in the rain unless I go out with her.
10. She is the best door bell I can ask for. |

| Our first dobe was a "smiler". J is not - my mom tried to "train" her to smile over Christmas, and it confused the heck out of her. I just smiled and nodded.
Here's J's list:
- Will grab any random object out of the recycling and run around the house with it. She won't try to eat it or destroy it - she just likes to carry something in her mouth and run. She's really going to like agility
- When I put her outside, the way she enters the lawn is that she will jump into it. I noticed her doing it a few weeks ago - granted the grass on one side is a bit tall, but I noticed even if it is short, she will do an absolutely graceful "jump" to go to her normal pee place. Again - she's going to do great at agility
- She likes to run up behind one of our tenants, poke her in the butt, and then run away. She does this so fast you cannot stop her, you can only stare and laugh. I didn't begin giggling at it until the tenant began to laugh, but internally I thought it was cute. I should probably train her to not do that.
- She has a way with other dogs. If one dog in her play group is shy, she is especially gentle and will encourage them to play. Otherwise, she's more than willing to be rough n' tumble - I've never come across a dog she didn't get along with. Fingers crossed she never grows out of this.
- When she is comfortable and lays down to sleep, she will groan - except it's not a groan, it is more of a "purr"
- Also crosses her legs while laying down
- Does not understand "no". If I get on her, she will play bow, as if to say "Hey, let's forget I just did that and play!" She isn't a submissive dog, but she also isn't a dominant dog. She is a playful dog.
- She playbows her way down the hall when she is happy.
- She is always happy, and therefore always playbowing.
- If she had a tail, she would be a helicopter.
- Her favorite form of affection is to have her face held in my hand. This works, because I love petting her face and think it is the prettiest dog face ever. Picture to prove it:

| I enjoyed reading these responses. Deacon is doberman #2, and I notice that he has some of the same characteristics as my first one. It makes me think dobies have their own fun traits unique to the breed, just a thought.
Deacon's funny quirks and behavior
1. He LOVES to steal my dish towels when I'm not home (no matter how far back on the counter they are), and I find the towels randomly throughout the house.
2. He won't go out when it's raining or too cold. He will stick his head out the doggy door to check on the weather conditions before making a decision to stay in or go out. Of course, he will go out in the pouring rain as long as I go with him lol!
3. When I get home and we start playing, he runs circles around my coffee table which is very awkward because it's a tight space for such a big dog. And my living area is open, so it's not like he couldn't run in a larger space if he wanted.
4. When he gets comfy in his bed, he always let's out this long groan. My hubby thought he was growling the 1st time he did it...nope, he's just letting us know he's comfortable!
5. He is a huge leaner when anybody is touching him, but lately he's taken it a step further. I have noticed 1 back leg and 1 front leg are completely off the ground which means you better be able to support him or he is going to fall over! Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App

| Logan also does the groan when he plops down to rest or sleep. As to say "oh my life is just sooooooo difficult" lol he also play bows too just not as much as my previous girl did. I love how he stretches in the morning... First a play bow followed with his head pointed up. Arched back, then leans and stretches and drags his back feet behind. Sometimes he lets out a little toot which makes me and my husband bust out laughing hysterically. He also toots when he sits sometimes. Sometimes I say to my husband omg was that you or him. | They are smart no doubt.
To make a long story short when the garage door opens my phone gets a text alert. My text alert on the iPhone is "bad to the bone".
I work from home and it goes off all day long and no reaction. But come around 6-7pm, every time it goes off Shannon runs to the door leading to the garage because she knows that's when Daddy comes home. Too sweet. |

Sometimes the boys(beagles) next door are barking at 2-3:00am and she will stand up in bed and look at me as if to say "Mom I need to go out right now" it's too funny but I'm half asleep |

| I guess I'm the outsider with an overly serious doberman. Lol, he constantly stares at me like "Wow, my mom is crazy. Who would do such things....pfft"
Apparently he's better than me, and every other thing, person, or dog that is silly just pisses him off. Goofy silly dogs really seem to make him mad, and his version of fun is, quietly follow me as we sneak away from the stoopid humans.
I guess someone stole my doberman and replaced him with an old cranky geezer |

| Skoll is a complete goof and it makes it sillier because he hasn't adjusted to human social signals- though he tries!
Zoomies in the middle of a walk? Check. He learned real fast that zoomies do not make him immune to leashes, so now he just tucks his butt and races in circles around me at random points on our walks. He's learned to ask if he can zoom first by tucking his butt and bouncing next to me with a "PLEEEEEEEEEEEEASE!!!!" face, hah. He also insists on picking something up before greeting ANYONE, and once he has it he'll approach them with an entire wigglebutt going.
I have learned that doberman sing, too! If he's being a pest and I'm ignoring him because I've just actively played with him for HOURS and I need to get schoolwork done, he'll sit right next to me and start "singing". First it's a grumble. Then a moan. Then a wail. Then he starts adding all kinds of pitches and noises into it. It sends me into a fit of giggles (which is not the desired effect because that still means no fetch) and I tell him he should go on American Idol. He sings better than some of the contestants, that's for sure!
A slightly scary one was him figuring out how to ask me to wrestle. He came up to me and lifted his lips. I was startled, so I told him "no" and asked him to get me a toy which is my redirect when he's getting antsy about the cat/visitors/whatever. Trotted off, got the toy, dropped it, lifted his lips. Hmm, maybe he's resource guarding, remove all toys from the floor, tell him to go lay down. Trotted off, laid down for 5 seconds, came back, lifted his lips. We continued this cycle of me assuming he was upset about something... until he PLAYBOWED and lifted his lips. "Ooooh, you want to wrestle!" Got off the couch and did my generic wrestle-initiate pose which is the feet spread, hands in the air like you're a monster pose... He was so excited that he figured out how to ask for what he wanted that he did zoomies after playbowing up and down the living room

| Oh, I'm loving this topic! Everyone has some great silly dobes!!!!! Jasmine does the following:
1. Gives you her Kong Wubba over and over again, almost intrusive, like "here, take it, come on, take it...." She shoves it in your hands, but when you go to take it, she takes it and shakes it from side to side, like "Nooooooooo haha."
2. She takes her Kong Wubba when I take her on a jog. There we are, just jogging down the street, her with her Wubba in her mouth!
3. She likes to do "bicycle peddling." She rolls over on her back and sticks her arms and paws all on my face because once i took her paws and started moving them like she was riding a bicycle. Turns out, she LOVES it (almost to the point that I regret it sometimes haha, but it's so cute).
4. Dives into snow piles.
5. If any neighbors haven't gotten their papers yet, she picks them up in her mouth and walks them to there front door when we're on a walk, then leaves like its nothing.
6. Will NOT just wake up in the morning, even if she's ready to get up. The routine is that she has to yawn a bunch, then stretch, then yawn some more, then stretch all the way out of the bed to the stairs, then stretch more when we get downstairs.
7. She HAS to sleep with her head on a pillow.
And the list goes on!

| Nexus will grab a toy whenever soemone comes home, if i am getting up in the morning, if someone comes to the house, and she carries it around with her. Bella smiles, a quick flash of the front teeth, whenever she comes to get me up, whenever daddy comes home, if she is happy to see you. Both will lay with paws crossed, so yes I think it is surely a dobe thing, Mysti used to do the same. Nexus will plop her butt in my lap when I sit on the floor, or she will stand overtop my legs when I am in a chair. Bella hikes her butt up on the couch or chair leaving front paws on the floor to sit. Both of them have to follow me everywhere, including the bathroom! And if I leave a room they usually both follow. I think one of the cutest things is after eating, they give kisses .. to each other! I am sure they just want those last tastes of the food lol but it is sooo darn cute!

| Elka brings toys to visitors.
She both leans and "docks" (backs her butt up to somebody).
She'll sit butt-only on a chair or couch next to a person.
She'll eat off of my fiance's fork (yeah, I'm so glad he taught her that ).
She playbows and then rears and prances like a pony.
She sometimes gets stuck in the "s curve of greeting", ears pinned and tail wiggling, because she's just. So. Happy.
When I'm at work, she'll sometimes go upstairs and sleep in the bed, even though my fiance and housemate are still here.
She waves her paw at a door as I open it, if she reallyreally wants/needs to go out.
She sings at empty plastic bottles until we hand them to her to take to the kitchen for her treat.
She'll sometimes mug somebody for their (cap on) but not yet empty plastic bottle and bring it to me. She's also done this with bags of dice. |

- Elza recognizes that my father is the spoiler. When my parents come over for lunch or coffee, she sticks to him to get something.
- She also believes he is her exclusive masseur. When he comes in, she turns and show her butt to scratch. After 10 minutes he stops, she nudges him.

| When Gracie would do a huge burp after eating, it was so human like! I timed her, in 60 seconds flat she would eat two cups of dog food. Well, that was my girl, a chow hound. Aren't they though? hounds? yes they are, the sweetest dogs on earth (sorry other species). And, those occasional loud burps would make me laugh so much! |
