| Hello from MI. Get another girl? Hi everyone, I'm a new kid on the block and I wanted your input on something.
My wife and I have been a two dobe family for the last 3 years. 11 years ago I purchased my beautiful baby girl. 3 years ago we brought a male into our family. They became best friends and subsequently were our best friends. A couple of months ago our baby girl went to rainbow bridge due to cancer at age 11. Legend, my male, is now 3. We have been thinking of adding a new girl to our family and wondered if any of you have experience in adding a female to a male. When we did the transition the first time, it was a male to an established female and she became his mother and all was well but I wasn't sure what to expect by doing it in reverse and adding a female to an established male? I realize there are always variables but just wondered if any of you have ever done this and how it worked out?
I am currently on Lyndobe's waiting list. |

| We added a female to our family, she was 4 months and he was 5 yrs. They were the best of friends and he put up with a lot of crapola from her. He has gone to the bridge and now she is 7 and our new male is 1, so as my boys say she is getting all that she deserves. I don't think I could ever be a 1 doberman family. |

| Welcome to the forum! You live about 45 minutes away from me I graduated high school from Lapeer!
I don't have any advice since we only have the only boy, but just wanted to say that Lyndobes is a great kennel. We got Red from Gorrmae, who has worked with Lyndobes in the past.

| Thanks for the welcome gang
dobesofwizland - That's good to know. I think he will love his new sister too.
Burns - What a small world! My wife is a high school teacher at North Branch. I love Lapeer. I grew up in Swartz Creek and moved out here a few years ago. I wanted some property for my dogs to run on. It's truly beautiful out here. Red is a beautiful boy! |

| We offically got our girl Trinket when she was almost 1year old, and Thor was 2 and a half. They have known each other since she was 4 months old. She was a little scared of him when she was a baby, since he wanted to play so bad he would come on a little strong. But she got used to him, and now she rules him. They play rough and share beds, toy and bones, but she bosses him around and puts him in his place when he annoys her too much (which is often since he is such a goofy red boy).
I don't see a problem introducing a new girl into your house, as long as their temperaments are compatible, and you watch them carefully when she is small. A good breeder, like the one you are on a list for, will match you with the perfect puppy to fit in your family. |

| I have a friend who had a 2 yr old male and he added a female puppy to his family and it went fabulously! They are best friends and his male is a real good boy with her.
And incidentally I also live in MI, down by the Detroit area, about 20 mins north in Warren. I have 2 females.

| Welcome from SW Michigan and from a fellow Lyndobe(s) owner.
I have added female pups to the household with an older, established Male a number of times without issue.
Most recently, we added Lola when Wheeler had been living in our home as an 'only' dog for more than 3 years. We have not had a single issue. Wheeler is now 4 years + a bit and Lola is 11 months. They are the best of friends.

| StarlightDobe - That's cool, I think my boy would behave the same. He's a gentle giant, he just does everything rough. He woke me up this morning pawing at my face with his nails You're not far from me at all. I have a buddy that lives down in Rochester. I go down there a few times a year.
avianantics - Thank you for the welcome and it's great to know you have dobes from Lynne! We're really excited to get a pup from her. She comes in high regard from everyone I've talked to. Wheeler and Lola are gorgeous dogs.
It looks like there is more Dobies in Michigan than I knew, very cool |

Both Lynne and I will be at the shows in Novi the week(end) of 1/17-1/20. If you are there, be sure to introduce yourself. If not, perhaps we will meet at the Lyndobe 'open house' in August, that Lynne hosts every year for all of her puppy buyers.
Do you know who your puppy's sire and dam are/will be?

Do you know who your puppy's sire and dam are/will be? | That would be great, I look forward to meeting you. Lynne said it all depends on how many black females come out of each litter and who shows up to claim their pup. I would love one from the Need For Speed litter as he looks just like my girl who just passed but I will be happy with any of her pups. She thinks I will get a pup from one of the two February litters or the May litter at the latest. In the meantime, I'm stocking up on puppy supplies and looking forward to spoiling her |

| I forgot to mention, though we "were" a two dobe family (before we lost our baby to cancer), we also have a "mutt". I hate using that term but that's what she is. She is 12 and not long for this world. She virtually sleeps all day and only moves to use the bathroom and eat. Legend has never payed her any attention and vice versa. She has always been a loner and doesn't like to play so I think that is why he's always left her alone. Based on how he played with my Dobie girl, I think he'll do great with a new sister. |
