^^ I agree. All you have done has been excellent and you are probably the best thing to have walked into his life. To most they are just dogs, but you know better!
I am in a similar situation. 7 month old dobie owner, first dobie, probably byb product (bought from some big online puppy site), no socialization, little to no interatction, parents care for dog, now turning aggressive...
I met the individual's mother (said person is 1 year younger than me- I'm 22) at a local pet store with Rou. She gave me said person's name and number for me to help him with the pet... I guess he has been building issues steadily for some time. I have been trying to get this individual to join us for our dobie pup group outings so he can redirect his poor behavior and salvage the pup while socializing. Right now, he can go down the right path with some help, but the road he is going right now... it isn't looking good.
Pup recently neutered, but vet said strict rest for... 2 weeks... and for a pup who needs so much exercise, time and devotion!!??!! The usual rest and recover period is no longer that 10-14 days! Now he is trying to dominate the household... Said person told me he is nipping and baring his teeth at him
I feel terrible... but what can you do? I can only say so much, I don't want to say too much and possibly "scare" this person away.
We have only exchanged text messages... I don't think this person knows what they are getting into... but they need to get off of their behind and make room in their life for the pup they bought (for a darn pretty penny!) and start taking charge!!!
My last message stated:
"A tired puppy is a happy puppy" (I invited them out with another fellow DTer and our pups at a local park within reasonable distance)
I got "Haha okay" as a response... I don't make this stuff up!!
What do you do???
(I did not mean to hijack this thread, but I am trying to be desecrate regarding situation! HELP!!!)
