Rexy enjoyed Christmas in FL with Touzie and family

Show dogs spent Christmas back at their breeder's, while Rexy packed warm weather gear for a FL vacation. He had a blast with Touzie, ate lots of Xmas cookies, and got 2 stuffed bears plus a singing Santa for Xmas. We went to Wellington this year.

Rexy- Stuffed bears and a singing Santa!

Front porch of rental house

Rex and Little T: Daily walk for one hour

Touzie ready for Santa

Hubby had ankle surgery and has 6 weeks of crutches to endure! Touzie was very supportive....

Touzie checks out her new personalized stocking, stuffed from Santa!

Merry Christmas from Rexy and Touzie!

Rexy is almost 10 now!

He's dealing with liver issues but still runs like a crazed 2yr old.

He LOVES holiday baking and has been known to steal pumpkin bread left out to cool. He actually blatantly strolled by the coffee table in this rental house and gently scarfed up an entire hot dog from a plate. My daughter was sitting right there, and Rex is so good at this, he never makes eye contact with the object or the person!! He was doing drive bys of the raw turkey so had to be gated out of the area Xmas morning.

Wellington- near West Palm Beach. It was 80 degrees most days, no rain, lovely to be outside! Son lives in Sarasota, and daughter is in Wellington for the winter, NY for the summer (horse vet for show circuit horses).

He is so bad we just laugh at him now! Two years ago hubby was stuffing the turkey and Rex strolled in and grabbed the raw turkey wing and tried to pull the entire bird off the counter. The counter surfing and nipping when he's overstimulated are the vestiges of his 2 yr old rescue boy personality!

You know the joy of going to the barn for dogs? Rex loves to gallop huge full speed circles around me when we head out to the barn, however he believes he MUST include you in the fun by nipping your heels. If you tell him to leave it he won't, but if he gets behind you and you say nothing- then all bets are off!

We adore this old man. My husband actually contacted the rental people to ask if Rex could come along with us. They had said pets considered but as we know, 85# pets are often not allowed! Rex had a lot of fun and loves Touzie so it was a good fit.

Everybody does love Rexy! He is the best ambassador for this breed. Okay, except the eccentric nipping and stealing, but most people don't see that

It is hard to believe he came into our lives 8 years ago as a wild, untrained 2 yr old Doberboy. I'd love to let his first family know how well he turned out; I do appreciate that they knew they were in over their heads and turned him into rescue rather than dumping him at the pound. He was such an anxious young dog who totally turned around with training and love.
