| How do you survive being sick with your Dobe I'm going on day three of the most unpleasant flu I think I have ever experienced. Rambo is finding it difficult to believe that he isn't being helpful. As we speak he is laying on me with his paws on my face...I'm glad he's comfortable. He also keeps trying to get me up every hour or so. He won't leave my side. It's very comforting but it's really wearing. My husband can't get him to engage with him for very long either. How do you handle your babies when you can't function? | Dog pushups. I croak "Sit" "Down" "Sit" "Down" from my place on the couch. Eventually he'll settle down once he realizes that bugging sick human who's trying to sleep is a bad idea.
Of course, if I get the chills, there's nothing like curling up under a blanket with a Doberman. He's like an 80 lb hot water bottle and he loves taking naps. Good dog. Although after I broke my leg last year, he went to stay with a friend for a few weeks because I couldn't take care of him. It helps to have dog owning buddies. |

| I hope you feel better soon!! I completely sympathize with your situation because I recently just experienced the same thing. I was sick with a nasty cold/flu and wasn't able to function like normal. While I was sick, my 11 month doberman became a very spoiled girl. She played with her usual kong toys and other toys, and I bought her some new ones to keep her entertained. I also bought her some new bones and big chews that she likes. Also, I finished some OJ and other beverages in plastic bottles and rinsed the empty bottles, then put some of her food in it and gave it to her to play. |

| Mysti was notorious for hanging on me whenever I didnt feel good. She would not leave me alone, laid on the couch with me( which at the time was a big nono) and refused to leave me alone for 5 minutes. She could sense when I had a migraine and would cling to me the entire time. It helps to have a well trained dog who knows how to chill, my current two have no idea what chill out means! In any terms lol .. they dont usually sense a headache but they know when Im irritated from it and dont want to tolerate their antics. I am fortunate right now the ground is frozen and I can send them out to play and not worry about the carnage they create in the yard.

| The day we picked Odin up my hubby and me came down with a sickness bug. Oh man I was in no position to look after a brand new 8 week old puppy then the hubby got sick too. It was traumatic to say the least, but we just about made it through. The next morning I was curled up on the sofa and picked Odin up and wrapped him in the quilt I was also wrapped up in to keep him calm. And got this most adorable picture of him...
Thankfully Odin has learnt not to pester but to cuddle us when we are now poorly! |

| Everyone's stories made me laugh. Rambo finally started getting the hint and calmed down, too bad it took so long. We piled his chews and things on the bed so he could be occupied and be touching without bothering lol.
He was indeed a great little heater, I took advantage of him a lot.
Someday grandmas will be an option. Right now, not so much. She watches my nephew 3 days a week and his mom (aka the sister-in-law of doom and unhappiness) doesn't like dogs, especially big dogs. So Mason has only visited the dogs in secret, which he loves. But he wouldn't be allowed if my mom had any of our dogs. I couldn't do that to him or my mom. Stupid SIL ruins lots of things for us. *sigh*.
Ok done thinking of her blah!
Thank you all for the comments and well wishes, I am feeling much better.
Thanks again,
Danielle
This was the scene at one point. Rain gets too hot on the bed so he sleeps where he can see me and the bedroom door at the same time lol. The other two...no shame or cares in the world at the moment. Attachment 19940 Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App

| Mine is off to his breeder's for really bad spells or he stays home and very generous friends walk him if its relatively manageable.
