| Why do Dobe's..... My husband wanted to know if the collective wisdom on his forum has an answer to a question that has apparently been bugging him.
Both Thor and Cleo always lay down with their rear facing our heads when laying down in bed under the covers or will eventually end up turning that way. Is it unique to ours or something other dobes do as well and if so WHY oh WHY?

| It has to be for farting purposes. That is my non-scientific opinion!

| Mine is the opposite.. in bed I often wake up with his head on some part of my body, often trying to sneak up to getting his head on my shoulders..

| Brandy does that too! She likes to be under the covers, but facing down which is very dangerous for us humans! I've always wondered if it had to do with the proximity of the door? If they think that even though they're under the covers they can still "keep an eye" on who's coming and going. Just my theory!

| Jones forces himself under the cover from the top, so by default his butt is going to be at the top.
I make him turn around else he has to get down, but thankfully Jones really doesn't get gas so typically I am safe

| ours are or were all in the same category, butt must face towards humans' faces... sign of respect, trust, plus allows maximum fart effect. they know it's the most powerful aphrodisiac in the universe!

| Kahlua always sleeps with her head towards mine, but I think she's afraid if she doesn't look at me I'll disappear. Harley always sleeps facing away, but he always curls up in the bottom corner, never up near the top of the bed.

| It is hit or miss with Rou. When he does sleep on the bed (which, in the cold weather I feel more inclined to invite him up) he can be facing either way. I find that when he is really tired- after a run with his buddy or a long day of travel (usually to dog stores), he doesn't care what position he sleeps as long as he is sleeping. When very tired he will generally sleep facing me.
If he is just sleeping with me - no crazy activity that day- he will generally face the foot of my bed with his arse in my face. I have only been graced by a dobie fart twice, and luckily I could hide under my comforter until it had subdued (10 minutes but felt like an hour).
I feel like they do this to face to door and guard you...
Maybe I just read into it to much and they are just comfortable there.
There are times where he will sleep with his rumpus facing me and I wake up and he is taking over my pillows and turned himself in the night.

| Ruger does this too. Since he sleeps in his jammies, he doesn't get under the covers though, nothing to muffle the aroma lofting from his dobe farts. I thought he slept that way to protect us is intruders came into our bedroom...ie the cats! I guess I was giving him too much credit huh?
