| I can't answer your question, I can only sympathize. When I had Bruce in for his 2nd set of shots last week he farted on the table, and his vet said "oooohhhhh dober farts, aren't they great?" in a sarcastic way, so yeah I'm guessing we aren't alone. |

| You could try a different food and see if that dials it back. Bacchus had horrible gas on one kind of kibble but when I changed it to a different brand it really helped. |

You're very right though, it is often diet related. |

| There is no cure :-/ but your not alone- they make some pet gas stuff you put in their food that cuts down on the amount of farts you deal with? Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App |

| Good luck, been around 5 dobes in my life, all had the gas....
They should note this as an "attribute" of the DOBERMAN in encyclopedia.
Could be the answer our energy crisis, vehicles powered by "DOBE" methane?
I wonder if the "show dogs" have gas, or too much class? LOL |

| 1st thing i would ask is what are you feeding the dogs? Caes had about a 3 week spell of gas when he was on Orijen LB but that was it luckily, now i have switched him to Acana WP and he hasnt had any apart from the other day when i gave him an egg! That seemed to have an effect.... |

| | denormalized | I do NOT have that problem. It is the diet. I feed a raw diet and they only get gas if they get any biscuits or treats containing grains.

| Gas is totally diet related. If any of mine ever started having consistent gas, they got a diet change. Parker has had a change because of it. |

| Agreed - Si only has gas when he gets too many treats or gets a "special" treat. Change the food brand, maybe the protein. I'd also consider grain-free.
Good luck! |

| it is diet - Dobes have notoriously sensitive digestive systems... and it isn't necessarily always about fancy foods or raw or grain-free diet... if it were, we'd probably all be feeding the same stuff. each Dobe is individual, and some are just more sensitive than others... ours have days which are pretty stink-free, then some days which are unbelievably stinky - yet the diet is the same... or nearly. i make their "wet" food to add to their kibble... it's meat, veggies, fruits... i think sometimes the combinations don't agree as well - but so far, i haven't found a real pattern. i thought turkey gave them bad gas, yet this time around, didn't seem to bother them...

| Hahahaha.....I know exactly what you mean. Mine can clear an entire room of people when he lets rip !! Years ago I put him on pancrease powder, which I got online, which I put in his meals. It did help to an extent, but not enough for what the product costed!! The funniest thing is that he scoots out the room so quick, so he knows it's NOT good. I make the sniffing sound and he is off, LOL |

| My dobie farts really loud (which freaks him out and makes us laugh), but they aren't stinky. Now my boston on the other hand is silent but deadly! He also sleeps under the covers, and there have been times when the smell woke me up from a dead sleep. At least with bostons, flatulence was a description in breed profiles, you don't get that with dobies lol!

So I do think it's diet related, and I do think there's a "cure" to the farts.... it's called "feeding raw" - works for us!

| It took me a few tries to find a food that both me and my dobe could be happy with, but now he's doing great and I can't say he NEVER farts, but its pretty rare.
