| They do remember .. A testament to how well dogs remember: Both of my dogs have had baby gates fall on them as pups, and both are terrified of it. To illustrate just how well they remember . I left them today for a couple hours to go out, and put a baby gate up against the hall to keep them out of the living room. When I got home, the baby gate was laying on the floor, in front of the hall, and both dogs were still in the hallway. Now how easy would it have been to jump over or walk over it into the living room and have a blast with my decorations? Nope, not going anywhere near that evil gate, no way!

| Oh come on mum, don't you know anything, those damned babygates are the devils creation. They look so innocent, but if you go too near, bham they get you.
Sensible dogs is what you have, they know when dark forces are on the prowl. They are steering clear. |

| My first dobe got clawed in the nose, buy a stray cat once...when she was under a year old.
- for the rest of her life, cats were no good, "little evil things" to be chased and barked at

| I think things like this can turn some dogs into spooks.
Having a dog that freaks out over every little bit of minutia falling is not fun. |

| Capri knocked over a baby gate once (mostly because she had her front feet on it ).
It fell with a bang and a clatter--Kip headed for the hills in terror.
Capri, who was all tangled up in it, danced her way out of the mess with a wagging tail and a wiggling butt--you could almost hear a "That was cooool!" coming from her mouth.
Some of it depends on the dog.
Of course, Kip's memory is part of what makes Kip so easy to train--Capri is an impulsive butterfly with no attention span to speak of. The good and the bad walk hand in hand sometimes.

My previous dobe, Mysti was excited to see me one morning and felt I had to pet her RIGHT NOW! so she nudged into my arm, which happened to be holding a hot cup of coffee at the time, it spilled on her head and for the rest of her life she refused to go near a coffee cup, whether it was in my hand or on a table.

| My little "bitch" as I lovingly call her has no respect for gates, she can jump the 4 ft ones easily, now our Baron(God rest his soul) respected them, they could be leaning up against the door way and he would stay behind them even after little B had jumped them. Rugrr our new young man still respects them, but has knocked one over and then gingerly stepped over it. Love them all no matter what they do or don't do. |

| Flirt does not like things falling and you can't convince her to walk over/on a baby gate. I used to feed her on a big 4 ft gate to try and ease the anxiety but I could never get all 4 feet on and finally asked myself WHY WHY WHY if she's otehrwise fine around it. She just doesn't like them slamming. Interstingly, no falling gates have bothered any of my Vizslas. 2 of them slam them down if they are leaning - Envy and Gabby. Havoc respects them but if it falls he is fine.
I can contain Flirt behind a 2ft baby gate/xpen UNLESS we are at a Frisbee event. Forget-about-it. Only a crate with a double lock
