| Things that scare dobermans.. Well it's christmas time and all so everyone's putting up decorations. Our neighbors (live in front of us across a street) set up a big display of reindeer and Santa lights and they play music. Well Willow will not go outside without a fight because of those. Even during the day. She barks like crazy and can't even pay attention long enough to potty. Anyone elses dog afraid of things? Willow is great around gun fire ( shooting practice )but christmas music? No way!

| Our neighbors put up one of those big inflatable snow globes. Bruce is terrified of it, hides behind my legs and refuses to move. He's fine during the day because it's not plugged in and making the scary "whoosh" noise, but at night...I am a mean mom though and refuse to acknowledge the fear/make a big deal out of it. When he calms down I praise him like crazy, and he is slowly getting better about it. |

| I recently had some furniture delivered and had a huge box left over. The cat assumes the box is her new playground and immediately runs inside. Hades casually walked by the box to go look out the back windows and she jumped out swatted him and ran back in. He was so terrified he ran to the other side of the room and just laid down and whimpered. The entire time staring at the attack box in fear. I called him and he got up... Took one look at the box...and laid back down and whimpered. I had to physically go in and lead him out and he avoids that box like the plague.
The cat however finds it quite amusing and just peeks out at him, glaring.... and plotting. Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App

| I teach my puppies a "go see" command which really just means hey silly dno't be afraid, go see it Sometimes I toss treats in the direction and mark (yes or click) when they even take a step towards the object. I can usually get them to nose touch most objects.

just allow them to go up to the 'strange' thing, sniff it, pee on it and strutt dirt at it and they will be just fine.

| Ivan's been afraid of various things.
A tripod scared him once while we were out on a walk, so I went home and setup my tripod before bringing him into the house. He didn't even acknowledge it was there.
Ivan also growled at a reindeer lawn decoration once. I stood there until he relaxed and he's been fine ever since. |

| A bathroom door separating them from me. Terrifying!
I do what Adara does but I say, "What's that?" and send/encourage my dogs to check it out and then they're rewarded.

| When Brandy was a little puppy, we were out on a little walk, and this storm drain was making this dripping/gurgling kind of noise, and she was TERRIFIED! She would not go any further! She couldn't care less now though! |

| Elka is so completely perplexed by lawn decorations. Those little flags that people put by their walkways? Wreaths? Solar lights? She gives them all a lot of attention.
The funny one lately, though, was our next door college neighbors (we somewhat share a driveway) had one of those wire and lights snowmen next to their driveway side door, though not plugged in. One of them had put it right outside their door (maybe to scare the girl that lives with them?) and I took Elka out to potty that night before bed. She went "full mohawk" and stared at that snowman the entire time. Didn't growl and didn't really want to go closer, but she clearly thought it was Up To No Good. |

That's Fiona. LOL LOL I don't know how many times I've said, "It wouldn't kill that dog to have a little more fear. But it might kill her to not." I'll blame it on the Lyndobe blood!
The only thing I remember Fiona being afraid of as a pup is when she went through a random phase of thinking garbage cans on the street needed killing. She'd growl at them and her hackles would go up, bark at them some, lunge at them. I'd just pitch a treat over toward them and say, "What's that?" She'd run over and get the treat, sniff the can, and we'd go on our way...right up until the next dreaded garbage can. LOL That lasted a week or so, I think, and then she went back to ignoring their existence.
Tali has a good sense of self-preservation but she's not fearful either. She's just more likely to intelligently think her way through a situation whereas Fiona runs in, guns blazing, and no plan in sight. LOL

| they just notice anything and everything.
and want to make sure you see it too.
had a puppy owner tell me how 'afraid' their boy was of balloons...........yet he would seperate the visiting kids if they got to rough with his kid...........held someone up against the fridge who came in the house unannounced.......took a kick in the head by her horse when he tried to 'protect' her from him..... etc.
but oh my god....bring out a balloon...

I just meant the way they charge up to it and punch it when I shut it you'd think they're terrified I'm going to climb out the bathroom window when they're not in there staring at me to make sure my whereabouts are accounted for.

| Maya and Luna hate the vacuum, Wallace apparently thinks he will scare the vacuum by barking at it non stop lol, Maya is somewho fearful of big garbage cans but as soon as I tell her: look its nothing, and I just touch it, she approaches it, sniffs it and moves on, Luna, is not really scared of anything else.
