| Wow. Dogs are not animals that you should even think about doing taxidermy with.
And this is the picture. I don't think its the actual picture though.

| Thanks.
I don't think it is either, really. It looks like they scammed it from somebody else for their "ad". |

| My husband really loves one of our cats, and he keeps saying that when it dies, he's going to have it taxidermied (or whatever the term is).
I think he's kidding... at least he better be. Talk about creepy as hell.

I'd be pretty upset if my dog was being used in this creepy ad.

| I'm new at this & suck at recognizing dogs (sometimes including my own) - but I'm certain I've seen that dog's picture on this site & it was alive, not stuffed.

| I wouldn't judge someone for stuffing their pet without knowing them. People have all perspectives that might make sense if they could explain the whys or get into their head.
I would imagine that a person would have to have quite a sense of humor about their pet and have been greatly attached to them as good taxidermy is NOT cheap.
That said there have been commissions if i recall correctly to the artist Jessica Joslin for turning deceased *beloved* pets into permanent works of art using the animal's skeleton.
I think those are quite beautiful but again...of all my pets I don't think I was ever of the mindset of a sense of humor enough about them or the means to go that route.
Everyone grieves in different ways. I can't judge as my mother & I took photos of my late grandmother because the mortuary did such a great job on her. Then fast forward a year or so I get an unmarked roll of film developed and there are a dozen photos of my grandmother. *sigh* It made me jump...We were in a lot of pain and shock tho, but loved her to pieces.
I would rather a pet be stuffed than dumped in a landfill or tossed on a pile to burn...
Although I'd be on a rampage if someone used a photo of my dog for an ad for a taxidermied doberman. |
