Just one question, does the breeder health check her dogs? You never mentioned this (as far as I could see). I am merely interested in hearing more about this breeder. I know of no breeder here in Spain who does health check, not to the standard they do in the US say and from research, (mind, mine could be flawed) I have found few who even do it elsewhere. (to the US standard)
Always good to know who is out there and what they are doing with regards helping our chosen furbabies to overcome the health issues that dog this wonderful breed.

| | Alpha | Most European countries have outlawed ear cropping. In 1987, the European Convention for the Protection of Pet Animals banned “surgical operations for the purposes of modifying the appearance,” including ear cropping and tail docking. Austria, Cyprus, Greece, Lithuania, Sweden, Bulgaria, Romania and Switzerland have signed and ratified the Convention without reservations. It has also been signed by Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Luxembourg and Portugal, although with reservations often relating to medical exceptions. Both Italy and the Netherlands have signed the Convention without ratifying it, meaning that they agree in principle but have not committed themselves to the terms of the treaty. In 2007, the UK Kennel Club banned dogs with cropped ears from participating in dog shows. Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App |

| In regards to the VWD? Yes she does and also Thyroid and DCM which made me see how much she really looks after her dogs. She has told me that people have been turned away in the past since she didn't seem them fit for her pups which is good because there are alot of irresponsible owners out there, its clear to me the dogs are her life and you couldn't really want more from a breeder. |

| | Alpha | I showed against her years ago.
Early 90's ..
She definitely isn't a BYB
But I would still question the ears. Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App |

| LondonDobe, why do you want a cropped dobermann?
Do you know anything about aftercare of cropped ears?
has your breeder told you that you will need to post the pups ears for 3-4 maybe more months till they are finished? and that you will need to change the bandages at least once a week?

| | Alpha | As to the legality of having them cropped. It was banned in France in 2010 so many of her dogs could have been cropped before that date.
Without the correct paperwork you would just be creating a huge headache for yourself.
Personally I don't like the idea of bringing cropped dogs into the country. It sets off a huge loop hole for supply and demand designer dogs for unscrupulous BYB to profit from.
Many dogs I assess before going into rescue where purchased from the back of cars direct from Ireland, bought because of the demand for docked dogs since the ban. The last 3 dogs I have seen all purchased without correct paperwork !!

I am on my 3rd Doberman book as of now on-top of sourcing various breeders for information, vets and kennels.
Why do i want a cropped Doberman? i believe that is the way Louis Doberman bred them to look and i have wanted a Doberman for over a decade so for me its about getting the dog thats right for the individual.
Why did you get your dogs cropped? |

What else would i need as the vets and DEFRA have told me i need this only even when i notified them of him being docked and cropped? |
