I don't post on here very often but I feel I had to share with Doberman people who get where I am coming from. Once again Dom has made huge progress since I last posted-he is turning out to be the Dream Dobe-a year ago it was a different story. Last year on Thanksgiving I had to have him crated in my room for 8 hours while everyone was here so he wouldn't scare or possibly bite anyone. This year though I wanted to try a stress free holiday for both me and him and I felt we were ready. With the help of a few family members who know him well, I had him leashed for awhile and introduced him outside when guests arrived-it was very successful! He was able to be offleash the whole time-didn't attempt to nip anyone and ate up all the attention from a house full of people-I almost wanted to cry! My extended family are cat people and they just looooved Domino-he even licked my aunt in the face whom he's never met before! He put on a show, acted silly and was well behaved when we were eating. Last weekend we also went to PetSmart to get his picture taken with Santa-and Hand-Me-Down-Dobes rescue was there doing the pictures so I got to see some of the beautiful rescue Dobes. He loved Santa-the beard or "weird guy in a suit" didnt phase him he was perfect. Last year at this time we went to visit the Dobes b/c the rescue comes to PetSmart every first Saturday of the month. He barked at many people and growled at people coming down the isle when we were looking at toys.....what a difference a year can make. He'll be 2 next month and I dont know if he's passed some of his "fear stages" and growing out of it or if our walks have helped him realize he doesnt have to bark at everyone, but he is a wonder! I finally can walk him daily w/o fear of him barking at people mowing lawns or getting out the car-and everytime we pass someone and he's quiet, he gets rewarded : ) We've come a looong way-I love him so much and I cant wait to spend many more years with him! Here's some recent pics...
