| Hi Ryoung,
People on facebook are my friends/relatives, and it does frustrate me that they have these stupid stereotypes when it comes to certain breeds for example. While their opinions won't change my opinions, they still get to me sometimes and I get frustrated. And I just gave an example about the picture "likes". I in no way post something to see how many likes/non likes will I get. I was just making a point that while I usually get many likes on photos I post, I only got 2 on a Doberman photo - meaning, that a lot of my friends didn't like the photo aka don't really like the breed. That's all I was trying to say.
Thank you for your opinions everyone!!!I hope that one day, my puppy will be able to change people's minds about this wonderful breed. |

| the best thing about Facebook is you can decide who says what to you. you can delete and block whomever you choose...you can filter your posts to show to specific groups of people. create a group for the people who don't like dobes, and filter everything dog-related away from them. |

| When I told my family we were getting a Doberman, my grandmother said "What do you want a dog like that for?"
"A dog like what?" I asked.
"So big," she said.
My family is so not dog people, they don't even know the stereotypes |

| I usually don't say that my dog is a Doberman. I only speak of "my dog." The general public usually guesses wrong....he is a red so maybe that is the reason. It perplexes me...yet, I also don't get many issues of others making unwanted comments.
btw - I am losing interest in facebook. it seems to be a reminder of all the parties that my friends forget to invite me to.

| I had a few people when we said we were looking into getting a Dobe tell me their "horror" story of some scary, loose Doberman from when they were a child. Otherwise everyone else has either said "oh they get big", or even a few that have told me how their friend, boss, sister etc have/had one, and how much they love them.
The stigma is definitely still out there for the breed, but I think it's far worse for Pit owners.

Its because people only post photos of when they go somewhere cool, or when they actually look good in a photo. Its so misleading.
I probably have a good 3/4's of my "friends" on facebook blocked off my newsfeed. I don't care what they ate for breakfast, or that they are tired today, or some equally dull post just to hear them talk to themselves. Facebook has really reminded me just how many people I know that I can't stand talking to lol

| We had our first doberman 20 years ago. He was precious and loved everyone..........when he passed it was hard to even think about another dog. Fast forward today I couldn't think of life without our girl. When I told everyone we were looking for a dog they all said "you need a dog like a hole in your head"..........We've had Devon 5 years this January. She is the love of our life. So always follow your heart. Now everyone loves our girl and she loves them. |
