| Yet another: Idiotic comment at the store... Went to TSC today, always take the dogs so they can visit, always run across some boneheaded comment or the other. Today's bonehead took the cake, at least from what I have been hearing of late.
Idiot: "Oooooh, nice looking dog! How much does he weight?"
Me: "Last vet visit he was at 76lbs"
Idiot: "Oh. Kinda small isn't he?"
Me: "Not really, he is just about the right height/weight for the standard"
Idiot: "Well, my buddy crosses those with 'Rockwilders' and sells them to the ARMY as attack dogs!"
Me: "Wow, just wow" turn and walk away
I must assume he meant Rottweilers, but who the *$%# knows... |

| WOW is all that I can say to that also. I'm sure his buddy is getting tons of money from the army for his new designer breed People never cease to amaze me!
Deacon is 73#, and I ALWAYS get the same comments about how he is small....and I politely reply with the same response that you used.

I must assume he meant Rottweilers, but who the *$%# knows... | My favorite mangling of Rottweiler is this greeder who advertises them locally in the ad bulletin.
His version of the breed name?
Walkwarriors.
Kid you not.
I would have been tempted to give that other store patron a friendly "whatcha know" slap on the shoulder and tell them I just saw a great documentary about his bud's Rockwilders working for the army...

| At least your Dobe wasn't "mistaken" for a "Rockwilder" like Odin always is.
Even the vet tech asked if 'Halla was a Rott puppy.
[obviously there is a paucity of Dobes in my area]
For 22+ years, I've had people ask of my Ibizan Hounds "Is that a dog?".
If I'm in a good mood, I say something snarky.
If I'm in a bad mood, Ive perfected a silent, blank "are you completely insane or just wonderfully stupid?" stare.
On the upside, it's been a while since somebody cautiously, quietly said to me "They always turn on their masters, you know.".
A lot of people think I'm "being unsociable" but in reality, I'm practicing what my mom taught me;
"If you can't say something nice...." Quote:

Rottie cross Dobe, attack dogs, I love it. | Last week in PetCo, a young man ran up to me and breathlessly said "That the biggest Dobe I've ever seen!".
I said "There's bigger ones."
He replied "I've never seen one!"
And I said "You need to get out more.".

| I get comments on the size of mine all the time, most of the time they look at Bella (who is a red girl) and ask me "they both dobes?" or if she is alone, "is that a doberman?" uh .. yeah lol .. Bella is bigger, at 82 lbs and 27 in I think. Nexus is 72 lb and 26 in. Most people dont realize she is a dobe and ask what breed she is. With Nex there is no question

| People constantly comment on how big Toorc is. Little do they know he is the smallest puppy from his litter today he is 11 week old and weighs 19.7lbs whereas his brothers and sisters are all around 23-26lbs. Can't wait to hear how people will want puppies from him when he's neutered Lolol Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App |
