| Smiling? I have notice Mariano has a new "thing"... whenever he is very excited or happy, he lifts his front lip and shows his very nice white teeth to us... nub wagging as fast as it can, and almost... smiling?
He does it when my boyfriend comes home from work, and when I left him out of his crate... seems a happy thing...
Is this something any of you have seen in your dobes? |

| He's smiling! I love dogs that smile. Simon was a huge smiler and would do it when we got home. Nothing better than seeing him smiling with his tail going like crazy. I really miss that. It's definitely a sign of happiness.
I'm hoping Richter becomes a smiler.

| Yup, some dogs just do it. We have on bitch here who we call snapper-head when she gets excited. She shows her teeth and snaps her teeth together. She also passes on this trait to her pups. About half of her litter also smiles and/or snaps their teeth in excitement. |

| Aw, YAY! I am so happy about this... he was already the cutest puppy I have ever seen, and now he is even cuter =] (Though I may have a somewhat biased opinion lol)
Anyone have any pics of their pups smiling? I am going to try to get one of Mo... |

Richter's great aunt Farah is here at the moment (Karma's daughter) and she's a big smiler. It's my goal to try to get some pics of her smiling next weekend when my husband is home. He can really get her going.

| I thought Riley smiled a couple of times when he was very little, and it got me excited into thinking he was definitely going to be a smiler... but I haven't seen him do it again in months, so it may have just been a fluke.

Perhaps it'll come back one day...?

| Dobes are famous for their smiles. Other breeds/dogs smile also, but it seems as if there are a few breeds that smile more than others - I think Huskies do. Of our most recent Dobes, Alex was a big smiler, and Rocky and Willie also, but I can't remember Melody, Petey, Thomas, or Annie smiling. And it's a very lucky Doberparent who can get photos of it ... so start trying, since we ALL want to see! (It's just crazy that some folks, even if they know their dog well, will smack them and yell at them when they smile, insisting it is a "snarl"...)
((PS - where in Hudson Valley? We came from Orange County - and have been homesick ever since we left!))

| It's really hard to catch Si doing it because he's often running around like a fool, wagging his nub off. He only does it when we get home. |

| Not sure if I'm lucky or not, but that's actually the best picture I have of Blazer, and nearly the only one - I do have one with him/my sister in law just before he died, but all you can really see is his foot and his nose, hehe. I wish I'd taken more pictures of my pets a few years ago - but I've since learned my lesson at least and will try to make sure I have LOTS of Jaina .

| Here's another thread with photos, and this one has a video of Mocha smiling. Pretty darn cute! Actually, video would be easier to catch than a photo, we all might have to work on that. "smile" vs snarl
Edit: Well the video is now password protected. Maybe MIA will find us here and share again. |
